June, 2024, there were six adults attending for lunch, I cannot fault the quality of food, but as far as service and respect for the customer, I am flat out giving it a one. There was only one young male waiter who was basically new in the job he said, on duty attending to all the tables during lunch. He was very apologetic in not being able to give us quality service. We had a query as to a meal on the menue, his reply was "not sure" and he said that he had been told "not to spend time answering any queries by us as he did not have the time to help the customer as such", what you read on the menue is what you get. So much for knowing food allergies etc. When the food was being served, even the owner said she did not have the time to answer any queries... In ordering drinks, I asked to have my drink muddled with a piece of lime, the waiter did not know what I meant by muddled, he asked someone in the kitchen/boss and he said and they did not know either. He came back 4 times to as what the drink was because he could not remember. No note pad to take the orders either. On another occassion we had to physically get up and ask for the third time to have table service for a drink which was at least a good half hour before we got it. We were told that we would be attended to soon. The most humiliating part of the day was when we tried to pay for our meal etc, we were told to "get into a line, ask no questions, only say yes or no when the cashier spoke out as to what was on the bill if it was your or not". She made it very clear like we were children in a classroom, not 6 mature women in their 70's. When one of us made a query during the demeaning experience, the cashier reminded us gruffly to say "only yes or no and not to speak any other words". It beggers belief to think that this type of service is justified for the amount of money that was spent by the six of us attending between drinks and...
Read moreWe came in today as we thought that this was the Best seafood restaurant in Maleny. We Were so very wrong! If I could give 0 Stars, it would be that! Upon arrival my mate ordered a coffee which came with 1 sugar, she asked for 2 more and waited and waited, and was forgotten. No one came back to our table, staff was too busy chatting behind the bar with NOT 1 person in the whole restaurant but us 2?! We had to get up from our table and go remind the waitress that she's forgotten us. Coffee was very average (too weak and milky). I ordered a Ginger beer $7 on the menu not $14$ which I got charged in the end?! We decided to order the hot seafood plate $40 each (tempura fish, coconut prawns, crumbed scallops and calamari & chips) what we got was "Battered" fish (not tempura) which smelled OFF and tasted fishy, batter so hard, we couldn't eat it at all! when we asked what fish it was we were told sea perch which was definitely not the case, the fish was a bad yellow colour and definitely some sort of frozen Basa or something similar, INEDIBLE! (I wouldn't take it to my dogs in a doggy bag!) 1 crumbed Scallop which was the only nice part of our $40 dish! 2 coconut prawns which weren't nice at all and overcooked calamari, which was tough as leather! I got charged $54 for a $40 of bad seafood+$7 Ginger beer? At the payment counter, we were asked how our seafood was and when I said it was overcooked, smelled OFF and we couldn't eat it, no discount was offered, NO ONE CARED! even the manager that sat there bored folding napkins. We left hungry after spending over $100. We were so disappointed, we won't ever repeat such mistake and come back. Do yourself a favor and got to any fish and chip shop on the Coast for half price and youl'll get a nicer seafood guaranteed!!! It was AWFUL, just read their reviews which is what we should have done prior to booking here. Sadly- heaps of 1 Star reviews :( Not...
Read moreFor a $300 plus meal for two, was disappointing due to some simple issues. Wait staff whilst very busy had a great attitude, despite being new. The $200 red balloon voucher was poor value for what was offered. Our issues: small servings and value vs cost. The size serving issue seems Red Balloon related compared to other table serving sizes. Some of the seafood was not fresh, the prawns were mushy, were not chilled and the whole seafood meal had sitting out of the fridge far too long. Mentioned the issue with the prawns lack of freshness at bill time, management was totally dismissive and ignored my comment/feedback. The lobster was just ok, the oysters were very good, the substitute prawns (for oysters for wife) were appallingly old, mushy and unable to be cleaned due to dissolving upon trying to open them. There was no hand washing bowl (until the very end of the meal) so we had to use a $10 bottle of water to rinse the seafood off our hands. Wine choices were a bit limited for mainstream type choices, in Australia really? The scotch fillet steak was beautifully prepared and presented. One tiny Kipfler potato each was a bit parsimonious. The worst moment (and was this an attempt at embarrassment?) The eftpos machine would not communicate with bank, the person assisting kept advising loudly that it was declined; in the company of other diners lining up to pay, implying that insufficient funds were present. Such poor communication. That really made me angry especially on top of the rest of relatively inconsequential performance failures. Never again, prior two visits was no enticement and a family gift was the reason we were there, we came with a positive attitude and excitement towards coming meal. Left underwhelmed, disappointed and appalled at the EFTPOS failure communications...
