Bottom of the Barrel BBQ — Restaurant in Sydney

I visited this small family-run American BBQ on a very rainy Saturday and let me tell you – not even the weather could dampen this experience! The smell of the smoker going immediately had me salivating.

I loved hanging out with Dave while carved up the brisket (and fed me the burnt ends 😉) and chatting to Melody and hearing all about their story.

Dave is from Indiana and is a master of his art. He takes a lot of pride in his food and will stay at work until 4am checking the meat every 15 minutes to ensure quality time after time. I could talk all day about them but I really recommend you check them out and meet them for yourself!

They keep the menu small and simple but don’t let that fool you – the quality of everything was outstanding. The brisket was the juiciest tastiest brisket ever – I will be dreaming about it for a very long time.

The brisket beans are a MUST! It’s like a chilli con carne and it will touch your soul. They do nacho days and top them with these brisket beans and I can ONLY IMAGINE how incredible they are.

They do specials as well, like short ribs and maple bacon waffles (which Dave cures his own bacon in maple syrup for a week)

You can bet I will be back to try the breakfast burrito and those maple bacon waffles!!!

1st time here for dinner tonight 30.7.22 Ordered the mixed plate 600gm for $48 Came with beef brisket slices, pulled pork, bread roll & choice of salad - either tangy potato salad, Texan beans with beef brisket or slaw, we opted for the latter & beans as an extra side + can of coke

Generous proportions - we couldn't finish it all (almost) between my partner, bb & I but we definitely enjoyed ourselves The beef & pork were tender & smokey flavoured & so filling 🤤 I didn't need the extra side - that was also full of tender beef brisket pieces over beans, but wished it was Chilli

Minor critiques, but would've been better if the bbq sauce was on the side, as it made the meat sweet. With the small portion of slaw also on the sweet side, we needed something more than the bread & single pickle piece to cut the sweetness & balance the flavours, because it became repetitive & sickening towards the end. Maybe that's my fault for over ordering 🤗 dining is in an open verandah so it's cold at night & makes the food go cold fast

Would definitely return if I'm in the area again & recommend everyone try this for fast friendly service & good...

The food here is incredible. The brisket, pulled pork, and beef ribs are soft, juicy flavourful, and seasoned well. They have the perfect amount of fat so that they are very moist but not overly greasy. Out of all the options, I thought the brisket was the best, but the pulled pork and beef ribs were very good. I initially only wanted the brisket plate but my friends wanted to try the ribs and pulled pork as well, and I am glad I got them instead of only getting the brisket.

If you come here, sauce on the side is the way to go. You get to try the meat on its own, but also have the option of eating it with bbq sauce if you want, getting the best of both worlds.

The sides were suprisingly good. I don't really expect sides to be that good but these definitely were. We had the the potato salad and brisket beans and both were super flavourful.

The portion sizes were quite good too, most places give smaller servings.

The service was very nice and the food came out really fast. The lady taking our orders was very friendly and helpful.
