This was hands down the worst experience Iâve ever had at any bar or restaurant. From the moment we walked in, the Italian manager (Federica) was shockingly rude and unpleasant. We were standing maybe 30 centimetres in front of the âplease wait to be seatedâ sign and she immediately started yelling at us like we were school kids. No hello, no welcome, just attitude.
When we were finally seated, her rudeness continued the entire time. She treated us like we were beneath her and made it clear she didnât want us there. Later in the night, the bill was slammed down on our table without us even asking for it. It was nearly $800 for five people. The drinks were tiny and ridiculously overpriced.
She spilled a good quarter of a cocktail while placing it down, and when we joked that there goes $10, she didnât even crack a smile. Not once did she show a shred of hospitality. Iâve never dealt with someone so cold and hostile in this industry. She clearly hates her job and should not be in a customer-facing role. She is the complete opposite of what youâd expect from a Merivale venue.
At one point I walked up to the bar to ask where the bathroom was. Before I could say anything, the bartender cut me off and barked that they donât do bar service. I told him I wasnât ordering, I just had a question, and he snapped at me again. It was like being scolded by a teacher.
I wonât be back. Iâm disappointed in Merivale for letting this kind of behaviour slide. The staff at Charlie Parkerâs were rude, arrogant, and completely uninterested in making anyone feel welcome. Especially...
Read moreBooked and food all prepaid months ago we arrive Saturday night to find they had given our booking to another group (potentially more money). We were a group of 14 ladies. Unbelievable.!!! Not only that they were extremely rude about it. All they offered was the refund. To be honest the place was dark, noisy and stuffy hot. No ventilation, would been hard to chat. Anyway where too? Lucky we found a place newly opened around the corner. 'The Stabbles' on Victoria street. Beautifully designed restaurant, light, airy, lovely ambiance to chat for a group. Great selection of wines. Tapas restaurant, so great for a group. We tried an assortment of dishes. OMG the food was insane, it was probably the most delicious food I have had in ages in Sydney!! the gnocchi is literally to die for. We asked the chef to come out, and this hot Spanish guy appears, ,too funny. We applauded him as we were blown away by the food!!! GO TO THE STABBLES THE FOOD IS...
Read moreThe worst experience I have ever had in a bar. My friend and I went to this venue, we were supposed to celebrate his birthday, we had booked a table. We ordered 3 dishes and 2 glasses of wine. The dishes never came, the wine just came after asking to the waiter again, we ordered another plate, waited for 30 minutes, our glasses were empty, no staff to check why a table would be without dishes or drinks, really sad, even after our efforts to try to be seen by the staff. We decided just ask for the bill and leave to a regular pub. The waiter clearly noticed how disappointed we were, that he even mentioned having removed the dishes we ordered and never arrived, as if he was doing us a favour. And they even charged us $13 service fee, tbh, for that âserviceâ, zero would be too much. Extremely disappointed, if it were just a regular day, Iâd have just accepted it, not my lucky day, but I felt really bad for having suggested this place to celebrate a...
