At the end of the week I like to relax with a meal from a local restaurant on the way home, and for the past two months Ikura has stolen my Friday. Convenient access, comfortable and fast in the early evening. The food at Ikura is in the upper band for Japanese restaurants in the area. The tempura prawn is amazing, the chicken teriyaki is one of the best I have had and for a single person looking to relax on Friday, I'm personally a fan of their Bento Box. My experience with dishes are generous servings for good prices that leave me full. They have drink options that are generous in serving to. The place itself is off the side of a main road intersection which is easy to visit on the way home, opens at 5.30 and when nearly empty I typically experience having food to eat within a few minutes. Wait times are longer when it's busy after 6.30. With the quality of the meal and ease of access, I find it hard to justify not visiting weekly for a quick, easy meal in a nice restaurant.

Food was fresh and menu innovative looking which was exciting. We were seated at the very back of restaurant and had to ask twice if we could order. There were ample staff present but the basic wait skills of them was nothing short of appalling. We ended up waiting 20mins to order and then having to go up and ask for basic glasses for our drinks and other table items. Staff knew they’d kept us waiting but just kept on walking past apologising. Somehow they seemed to prioritise making up tables (that were not even used during our whole stay) over basic customer service and they place had all of 9 small tables occupied in the whole place with more than enough staff. After ordering, staff were nowhere to be seen to order anything further so we left despite wanting dessert. Disappointing, as the food wasn’t bad and was served quickly. Tempura prawns were a standout and good ebi goyza. I wouldn’t be rushing back particularly if you are hungry.

Absolutely awful restaurant manager and customer service. Customer felt faint and needed to sit and recover/have assistance to walk to car after meal but restaurant manager shooed customer out and refused to call an ambulance. Just said “we are DONE” and said “PAY NOW AND LEAVE”, no assistance medically nor allowed fellow staff to help organise ambulance/safety measures. Such a shame given lovely food and venue but after this experience (3rd time visiting) will never ever visit again nor no longer recommend to friends. Massive loss for restaurant as we were going to have a large group birthday dinner there.

Not happy at all with the experience I just had with my family. My dad brought a bottle of wine and the waitress put 4 glasses on the table. I literally had a SIP of wine and my sister had the same as me. We were charged $5 per person for corkage. After I told the lady at the front this was quite a steep price as I didn’t even have any wine, she continued to tell me it doesn’t matter if the wine is drunken or not you are paying for the glass. Also was not given a choice on the amount of glasses put on the table and the fee wasn’t explained at all. Very disappointed with this service as me and my family come here very often and it just seemed they were trying to squeeze every penny out of us. Honestly have lost all respect for this place and will not be...
