Royal Terrace Chinese Restaurant — Restaurant in Sydney

Not sure what to make of this place - might have to revisit. Extensive menu (also in English); all the 'usuals' plus some unusuals such as griddle pork intestines, goose feet, diet soup with Ox tail, oyster pancake, crispy pigeon and so on. We ordered steamed dim sims then after awhile the waiter returned and for some reason recommended that we don't order dim sims and offered us free spring rolls instead which we accepted. The spring rolls were mostly pastry with very little filling, our pork rib dish was tasty though a little dry, the fried rice was average and the pepper squid I liked. Not as oily nor covered in sweet sauces as most places tend to do, generous servings. Dining area clean though the bathroom could use a bit of a scrub.

Whether Dim Sims were on the menu or not, I don’t know but I did order them so perhaps that is why the person taking our order suggested we don't order Dim Sims but he most definitely did offer us Spring Rolls, maybe to try to compensate. As they were not really like Spring Rolls seeing as you now mention you don’t sell them either, there again is probably the reason why whatever we were served didn’t seem like very good spring rolls. As I said, we were quite happy with most the other food....

I would give ZERO stars if possible, just be aware that what you order may never arrive but the money is taken.

Ordered food through menulog...promised 7:01pm delivery....at 7:30 still no food.....contact restaurant and ask for food status.....driver away.....when is the food coming..."no speak English call wife" he says and hangs up.......3 times the owner hangs up saying "call wife"...I eventually get him to give me wifes number.....now here i am calling the only English speaker who is not even in the restaurant for food that is now an hour late.

Anyway she eventually answers (she is off sick), she has no idea whats happening at the restaurant and agrees that the owner...her husband has bad English. Still no idea where my food is...she now says she will call restaurant and find out whats happening......then she hangs up.,,,,,,,,,,

So over an hour later She calls,,,,the driver is held up for an hour by a traffic jam between Gordon and St Ives on a Saturday night...I share my disbelief....she agrees it sounds odd.....she says I am to be compensated for my now one and a half hour wait....yes that is 90 minutes....I got a free soft...

We came last weekend to try-out this restaurant in our suburb but unfortunately had to leave immediately after sitting on a table.

The reason: we asked for a menu but the waiter only provided us with paper-based menu with Chinese characters on it. We asked for English version menu but he said they did not have one. Unbelievable - so weird that this place still has business up to now but we had to leave since we could not read Chinese characters on the menu and therefore, could not order anything. I understand that Chinese restaurants need to provide menu with Chinese characters but they also usually provide the English version for non-Chinese customers since we're living in Sydney, Australia and not in Guangzhou or...
