L’Heritage is truly a hidden gem in Mosman. From the moment we arrived, the French-inspired decor and stunning view of the bay set the stage for an exceptional dining experience. It’s the perfect spot for a first date, giving off romantic summer holiday vibes far removed from the bustle of Sydney’s CBD. It’s also a fantastic venue for family lunches or dinners.

Caviar: We started with the caviar, which was light and served with small pancakes, butter, and sour cream. The combination of flavors was delightful and elevated the caviar as a starter.

Kingfish Carpaccio: For the entrée, we tried the kingfish carpaccio with tadane vinaigrette and salmon roe. While the fish was fatty and thick with a luxurious texture, I would have preferred a bit more freshness and less oiliness. Nonetheless, it was enjoyable for what it offered.

French Cut Flank Steak: The flank steak, paired with hand-cut fries, was tender and plentiful. It was cooked well done, which I usually don’t prefer, but it wasn’t overly dry. A medium-rare option would have been ideal, but the flavor and texture were still good overall.

Fish of the Day: This was my favorite dish! The fish was cooked to perfection, with a sauce that complemented it beautifully. The cauliflower purée was a standout, tying everything together seamlessly.

Chocolate Mousse: The dessert was rich, indulgent, and bold with an intense chocolate flavor. It’s perfect for anyone with a sweet tooth and a strong preference for deep chocolate notes.

L’Heritage offers not just an amazing dining experience but also an escape to a tranquil, scenic setting. Highly recommend it for...

A really mixed experience. In order of events occurring: Booked 4 weeks in advance, and gave details to their reservation system of myself + date, including dietary requirements, such as non alcoholic and also provided photo for identification on arrival Staff called day beforehand to confirm and also said that in place of the complementary wine, 2 mocktails would be served, which was great Day of booking, walking past garbage, an actual rat, and plastic on the footpath and behind the outdoor gas cylinder opposite the front entrance Arrived bang on time, was not recognised from having added that personal info, and table was not ready at all. Host apologised but stood there awkwardly for 7 minutes until it was. Both myself and date are adamantly non alcoholic for personal reasons. Waiter plopped down 2 wines. I explained that I provided info to the establishment to not offer us alcohol, and that someone already called me yesterday about it - so they didnt read the info provided in the reservation, and they didnt communicate among themselves. Mocktails arrive, were nice Food is small as probably expected, but still good The prawn main however is split in two and meant to be pulled apart from the shell by the consumer, right, fine - however it just didnt pull off without the whole shell falling apart and splinters of prawn shell getting into every bite and the risotto Despite this, the food was still good and of high quality Ended meal and walked back to car past yet another rat and...

Disappointing experience — wouldn’t return

From the moment we arrived, it felt like we were being treated differently. I’m not sure if it was because of how we looked, spoke, or where we’re from - but the attitude was noticeable and uncomfortable.

There was no explanation of the “fish of the day,” and not once did anyone check in on how our meal was. Meanwhile, we watched the staff doing exactly that at other tables. I ordered a starter, but the waiter was so disengaged and unhelpful that he completely forgot. There was a noticeable lack of care and proactivity in the way we were treated. After a long wait, I had to follow up, and they ended up bringing all the food at once. The service felt cold and dismissive throughout.

I had noted during the booking that we were celebrating a birthday (as the system asks), but there was zero acknowledgement - not even a simple “happy birthday.” I don’t expect a big gesture, but if you ask, at least follow through.

To make it worse, the menu had changed but hadn’t been updated online. I had chosen a few things in advance, but when we arrived, the options were so limited that I ended up ordering three entrees just to make a meal. My husband ordered a steak, which was honestly nothing special.

Also worth noting: they run “special nights” like $69 steak or two-for-one offers. Based on our visit, I wouldn’t expect much from those either - quality and service both felt lacking.

We had booked this for a special night out, but sadly left feeling disappointed...

5/5 experience. The staff were fantastic as they were super helpful and friendly, creating a warm and welcoming environment. The interior of the restaurant is absolutely beautiful, decorated with candles and a carefully styled mish mash of furniture and decor. The decor elucidates a really intimate and cosy atmosphere that is perfect for date nights. The food was also amazing. We had the beef tartare (though I wish we had more bread with it) as an entree to share. The duck and steak were perfectly cooked and the accompanying sides were divine. I highly recommend the duck as the potatoes cooked in duck fat were an absolute gastronomical haven. The desserts were indulgent and a highlight. My partner ordered the special choclat tart with salted caramel (served with a scoop of Belgian choclate icecream) and I had the apple tart tartine with creme fraiche. The tart tartine was served warm and the creme fraiche was not sweet, complimenting the rich apple perfectly. The choclate desserts were amazing, rich in depth and flavour (highly recommend if you like a more rich chocolate). We can't wait to come back for lunch (the view overlooking the water seems spectacular in the day) and try their chocolate mousse. Edit: FYI for parking, there are car spits available along the narrow road. Though it's paid parking (until 10pm) and you may need to walk a bit further to the restaurant as it's all along a long road. Parking also fills up quickly as there are several restaurants in the bay.

Celebrated my birthday here yesterday and what a gorgeous quaint french bistro this is! Overlooking the water, this restaurant also has a beautiful country town aesthetic on the inside. Was here with 5 other guests and we ordered a series of entrees to share - pate, oysters, salmon rillettes, escargots, and beef tartare. Most of the dishes do come with accompanied toasted bread or a loaf of baguette but we found ourselves needing to order additional servings of baguettes to help us finish the entrees (which were absolutely delicious and we're not complaining about eating more bread! 🤤) Crowd favourites for entrees were definitely the pate and the escargots but to be honest, they're all really good. For the mains, we ordered the bouillabaisse, the special of the day - seafood risotto and the duck. The bouillabaisse was nice however we were expecting the bisque to be slightly more thicker as it was a bit on the watery side, the risotto and duck were cooked to perfection - next time we'll order the steak frites as that did look amazing. For desserts, we were spoilt for choice and being a french restaurant, we love the variety of desserts on offer! We ordered the special of the day - tarte tatin, mousse au chocolat, poached pear and some servings of the gelato - all the desserts we couldn't fault but the tarte tatin was my personal favourite! Overall, a great experience at Bistro L'heritage and thank you for the amazing service! Cant wait to be back to try the other dishes!
