I was really looking forward to trying Lusso Buffet, especially since it just opened, but I walked away feeling underwhelmed.
To start on a positive note, the venue itself looks great with a stylish, modern design and a good atmosphere. We booked in advance and were seated immediately, which was a nice start to the evening. The staff were also lovely, friendly, helpful and quick to clear finished plates, which made for a pleasant dining experience.
A few dishes stood out. The beef cheeks were beautifully tender, and the pork ribs were flavourful and satisfying. The fresh prawns and mussels were another highlight, nicely presented and clearly fresh, especially the prawns.
That said, I was hoping for more seafood options, particularly on a Sunday night when you’d expect a wider selection. It would’ve been great to see favourites like scallops or sushi, which were part of the old buffet and noticeably missing here.
Unfortunately, much of the food didn’t live up to expectations. The Chinese dishes were particularly disappointing: the fried rice was bland, the sweet and sour pork was overly fatty and the Mongolian beef was quite chewy. The mussels in coconut and lemongrass sauce were too sweet for my taste.
Pasta options were also a letdown. Given the name Lusso, I was expecting more variety and inspiring Italian choices like lasagne or pizza. There were only two basic pastas available, and the white sauce option was quite bland.
Some of the hot food missed the mark as well. The onion rings were undercooked and not crispy. While the dessert section had a fun touch with the soft serve machine and chocolate fountain, most of the other desserts were average. The sago pudding in particular lacked flavour.
The fruit selection was mostly fresh, but the watermelon was severely underripe and really shouldn’t have been served.
Overall, I felt disappointed, especially knowing how good the old buffet used to be, with seemingly better variety. Lusso is reasonably priced and has potential, but given it’s newly opened, I was expecting better quality and a more exciting spread. Hopefully, they take feedback on board and...
Read moreWas very very disappointed with our experience last night. Told the Fam to travel over to the area to try out the new all you can eat buffet because the advertisements look amazing!! Silly how you can only book for groups of 10+..who wants to take that risk when you can book everywhere else with no restrictions and be guaranteed! Words cant explain how underwhelming it was and how embarrassing it was that I wasted the fams time and money! I apologised the whole dinner! Everything you get at a standard all you can eat just wasn't there. Variety of meat cuts, sushi, PRAWNS/seafood..nothing. Everything advertised on the videos like the dessert bar, make your own burger grill and the live chef experience is apparently only for the weekends (which if that was stated on the pricing board out the front i wouldnt of walked out and went somewhere else) and their reasoning is the $4 price difference! What a joke! When you get all of the above for around the same price everywhere else. Would be more than happy to pay the weekend price all week if it was what was advertised on their videos online! Food was bland, overcooked and they even got white rice wrong! As stated before, absolutely no variety. Ice-cream wasn't creamy and the desserts were gross and were decorated with mandarin pieces which was bizarre. Fruit was sour . VERY UNDERWHELMING! Should of turned around when even the front desk tried to warn us with feedback from others. Should of read the reviews before going! Can say even the old place was better. Don't recommend! Drive the extra 15 mins to Merrylands RSL where you get an actual...
Read moreSo we lined up on father's Day and it was all chaotic because they did not organise a booking system. It was only for groups of 10 people or more. I think they should have split the bookings into say early lunch and a late lunch like I do at Christmas time. It would have made the process a lot more smoother. Instead we were waiting almost 2 hours make that more than 2 hours. I understand that the restaurant is under new ownership, but you should consider the fact that father's Day is one of the busiest days of the calendar year and you should be well prepared for the numbers. If you had a booking system in price for at least groups of any size for this situation, you could have anticipated the numbers of people coming in.
As for the food, the food quality has improved a lot since the previous owners of the buffet, but there were a lot of issues with the vanilla ice cream, soft serve machine breaking down and the fact that they ran out of serving plates in the middle of a lunchtime Rush and the plates were taking a while to clean up considering it was busy. I can understand this, but it still gets quite frustrating. I'm thankful for the management being apologetic and understanding, although comments and concerns and hoping they will use this as constructive criticism for future public holidays or event day such as this as it is a little unfair when people are waiting for food and extremely hungry. Will I come back? That is the question and I'll probably give it a chance the other day off on a lunch time when there's no line of people to make a comparison....
