This 1-star review comes from your regular, who has been a regular for almost 9 years ever since your shop was still located in Surry Hills.

Made a take-away order around 4:45PM on Saturday, 12th July 2025 for Sio Bak Pui. I came back in 25 minutes later to pick it up, while having my dog carried.

As a standard etiquette along with common sense, I did not let my dog walk inside the restaurant, notwithstanding the short timing that I went inside to pick my food up from the counter and leave which took less than 2 minutes.

Immediately, as I walked to the pickup spot the younger female waitress spoke rudely along with a sickening body language telling me to put my dog on the floor. I couldn't digest the logic why she had the audacity to tell me to put my dog on the floor?

Isn't the logic of carrying our dogs is way better to prevent accidents to happen inside the shop? Silly employee.

Please filter this as a constructive feedback to educate your staff members to treat customers with respect, probably to include critical thinking as well.

Whether this employee lacks education in possessing appropriate manners or having the basic communication skill to be respectful to others, it doesn't cost anything to be nice.

Bear in mind that customers are the reason which keeps your business moving.

Tanpa pelanggan, kamu juga ga bakal digaji!

Response to owner:

I appreciate your thorough and prompt response.

While I understand that you have reviewed the CCTV footage, it doesn't provide an accurate audible conversation of how your employee used her words on that day. The comments which are not captured on CCTV obviously is condescending.

I would like to stress again, that the words your employee used did not encapsulate the standard quality of being respectful towards customers.

Additionally, as a local in the area a lot of times I saw customers picking up their food or simply walked inside your shop with their dogs and if your shop is not dog friendly, please put up a bigger sign and be consistent towards each customer that dogs are strictly...

Meidan Ciak in Mascot offers a genuine taste of Indonesia, with dishes that transport you straight to the bustling streets of Jakarta. The Nasi Goreng is a standout, boasting perfectly fried rice infused with aromatic spices, tender chunks of chicken, and a generous topping of crispy shallots. It's comfort food at its best, with each bite delivering a satisfying mix of flavors and textures.

Nasi Padang is another must-try, presenting a vibrant spread of rice accompanied by a variety of side dishes like rendang, sambal eggs, and sautéed greens. The variety on the plate is a true celebration of Indonesian cuisine, with each component bringing its own distinct taste.

Sambal Ijo Ayam offers a fiery kick, featuring tender chicken marinated in a spicy green chili sauce that’s as bold as it is flavorful. The heat is intense but balanced, making it a delightful choice for spice lovers.

While the portions are generous, a downside was the lack of side plates, even after requesting them, which detracted from the dining experience. Having also dined at the main branch in the city, the food there seemed slightly superior, though the overall experience in Mascot was...

The combination rice was gorgeous. Loved the beef rendang and the potato stir fry. Always say yes to the Indonesian curry sauce on the rice. Coriander seed fried chicken (ayam goreng ketumbar) was also good.

Galangal fried chicken (ayam goreng lengkuas) with rice was delicious.

Kwetiau Siram was stunning. Generous wok hei, excellent sauce, and decent portion. Will definitely order again! But this dish is quite inconsistently cooked. Sometimes may taste good, sometimes may not be fragrant and has lumpy corn starches.

Soto medan (seasonal menu) was nice. The soup likely has a coconut milk base. It was rich and milky, but not overly so; reminiscent of soto betawi, if you will.

Nasi Prang Medan uses coconut rice, and their coconut rice is always so amazing. Fragrant, light, and aromatic. You can ask to switch the white rice in your combination rice to coconut rice.

Cho Mie Medan is remarkable. Firm, chewy noodles, with generous and fitting toppings which included the deep fried pork fat. Very nice combined with the chili sauce as well.

Service here is...
