Monfarville Bakery — Restaurant in Sydney

Had a Pepper pie from there recently. The actual pie was nice nothing special. Then after a third bite I got an absolute cluster of grinded pepper corns then I noticed the whole lid underside was literally caked in pepper. My mouth was burning and after that cluster I could not taste anything at all. The experience was very off putting and as its a actual destination shop for me I doubt that I will return soon. Sad because I have previously had no issues from there. Out of interest the pie was given to me by my brother he got me the pepper pie because that's usually what he gets or he gets me steak and Kidney sometimes and yes we visit pie shops all around...

I was recommended this bakery by a workmate and a fellow coniseur of meat pies. Being from South Auckland, New Zealand the Sydney bakeries version of steak and cheese pie is a far inferior pie to the Kiwi counterpart until I got the steak & cheese pie from Monfarville Bakery. The pastry was light and fluffy and the cheese was melt in your mouth with large chunks of meat in its tasty gravy. Used to visit when the young male owner was there. Visited today and saw for the first time a lady with many staff service. The lady spoke loud to her staff and when I asked her a question of a dish she said to me if there is a price we have it. She also spoke to me loud. She was so intimating I was not able to tell her what I wanted on my port roll. When I was walking out she and a lady customer were passing comments. This will be my last time there.
