Orana Takeaway — Restaurant in Sydney

There has been a sudden and swift change in the quality of the food here, or perhaps they are struggling with how busy it gets but they for the last 15 years have been my go to for chips and scollops and general take away ect in the area. The owners handed over a while ago but they still seems to have the staff ect.

I went in recently and bought in person.

It was genuinely inedible, they have new staff and I watched while one fried it all so much the cooker was smoking from oil that’s too hot, then it was handed to someone that poured so much salt on it that I had brush it off piece by piece.

Genuinely so sad as it’s an end of an era for me, it kind of tasted like Orana, but it was way over cooked, over later and the batter on the potato scollop must have been missing it’s usual seasoning as it basically tasted like fried flour than as with the potato still having the old flavour.

Shame. Smells like Orana, no longer...

Everyone whinging about customer service is missing the point, it’s a dodgy old milk bar style takeaway joint. You don’t go there for service or a nice conversation, the food is greasy and delicious. Those paper wrapped chips with tons of salt that are getting harder to find, burgers with the lot and other deep fried goods. Is it as good as all these modern American burger places? No. Is the food that fresh? No...are they blunt when they serve you? Yes. And that’s why I’ll go here, because I’m going to get a classic greasy takeaway feed, and that’s what these places have done since the dawn of time. I cannot understand all the whinging, like the building itself is old and falling apart, obviously you’re in the wrong place If you’re searching for nice fresh food and good service. It’s a simple mans meal, and if you can accept its flaws and want that old school take away then...

Food is ok... Service is TERRIBLE... it is so terrible that it is entertaining!!!

Staff are rude and impolite. Not a single please or thank you... really abrupt. They are doing youa favour by allowing you to spend your hard earned there.

Funny story... I went for lunch to get a chicken schnitzel roll... without me asking the server took a bread roll from a drawer under the counter and starts to toast it. I told him that I didn't want it toasted so he takes it out and grabs another roll from a big plastic box!!! Basically they were trying to get rid of yesterday's bread by toasting them. I asked him if this was what he was doing but he denied it of course.

Went there again hoping that things had changed... nothing has changed. Food still ordinary and they completely messed up my order. Drove back to get my correct order and mot a word of apology. Staff are still as rude as...
