I have had a few negative experiences with St Marys Rugby Leagues Club the past few weeks
I usually go to the badge draw/raffles almost every wednesday night
On 16.10.24, my friend swiped her card on the way in, and a promotion popped up saying, Spend $30 on dinner and receive a free Nutella pizza
When we went to order, however, the bar staff said there was no promotion available she was extremely rude, like we were an inconvenience for even asking. She asked her colleague after we insisted it was advertised when you swipe your card. The colleague was a lot nicer and much more helpful. She said that was a Septemper promotion, which has ended as another customer tried to claim the week before.
So I went and swiped my card, took a photo of the September promotion, and went to the reception desk.
She said oh that is a marketing error nothing she can do to honour this.
I asked for a manager because, yes, it said September in the tiniest fine print, but it was the middle of October it should have been replaced with October's promotion.
The female manager was absolutely lovely and happily honoured this promotion she said she had already emailed marketing the week before and will be escalating this again.
While in the middle of arranging my free dessert pizza a male young manager comes over with a device in his hand saying it clearly states this promotion ended in September so we shouldn't be receiving a free Nutella Pizza.
I pointed out they shouldn't be advertising it in the middle of October. The lovely female manager stopped him and said she was giving us the free dessert pizza and agreed with me.
I felt so irritated that I had to push and go to 3 different people to get one thing that was clearly still advertised and was not my fault.
Moving on to the next Wednesday, 23.10.2024, and it was still being advertised. I did not try and claim for it again even tho I should have been entitled to it. I did see both the male and female mangers in the club together so I walked over and pointed out the September Promotion was still being advertised when we swipped our cards, she was VERY sorry and promised to raise this again. I told the male manager he was wrong the week before for making me feel bad to claim a promotion that was falsely being advertised.
I also said if it was up the next week, I would be claiming it
The next Wednesday 30.10.2024 it was still being advertised me and my friends could not believe this was still being promoted., I didn't claim like I said because I knew it would have been a fight that I was not in the mood for.
I did tell the rude male manager it was still being promoted, and he just said ok.
I think promoting something for a month after the promotion ended is extremely wrong but what's worse is making your customers feel like they have done something wrong for wanting to receive a promotion that is advertised when swiping your card and needing to go from person to person to get what is being advertised.
Each week, my friends and I spend around $40 to $60 each at St Marys Leagues Club, so you should be treating your customers like we are valued, not like we are a pain to serve
This was only one of the bad experiences I have had in the...
Read moreNot a bad place to be, relaxing lounge areas and the buffet restaurant is reasonably priced. Food however has been better in the past and on my most recent trip you could see that some of it had been out for a while as had gone dry under the heat lamps. The variety also seems to be reducing with a skew towards Asian dishes. The desert menu is pretty bad with these miniscule bowls and clearly they have outsourced pre-made cakes and slices that are gone with one bite. They have either soup spoons or these ~5cm long wooden spatula like spoons which remind me of miniature tongue depressors from trips to the doctor. Suggestions to book ahead as they get pretty packed out pretty quickly as a lot of ethnic families come through and clean the place out. So early appointments are best. On my most recent trip which prompted this review I have chosen to correct the inaccuracies of the previous review as the staff dynamics have changed and are more oriental orientated. Sadly it seems they have gotten rid of their best and most friendly staff. My auntie and father also walked away with a case of food poisoning it seems with violent diarrhoea and vomiting that kicked in a few hrs after leaving. Thankfully my mother and myself was the lucky ones that where trouble free in that regard. I tend to steer clear of anything that seems sus for self preservation which can be disappointing as it limits what I eat as I simply do not have trust in these sorts of restraunts for this reason. Be it covid or interest rate hike the prices have also increased which has slowly seen a significant drop in how packed the place is which could increase the risk of more food poisoning cases as it is simply not consumed at the rate in...
Read moreAbsolutely awful for families. This was one of the most stressful and upsetting outings we’ve ever had. I have two autistic children and as a single parent, it was really hard. The place might look fancy but it’s chaotic, loud and not suitable for children at all, especially those with additional needs. Staff kept hovering and telling us what to do and where not to stand like we were constantly doing something wrong. People were gossiping and staring the whole time and it made the atmosphere feel so uncomfortable and tense. On top of everything, we experienced racism between individuals while there, which made the environment even more hostile. There’s nothing kid-friendly here. It’s loud, overstimulating and the entire place reeks of alcohol. People were drinking and clearly getting drunk while kids are just expected to sit in the middle of it all. Children and minors weren’t allowed in certain areas which made things even harder, so much so I had to ask my friend if she could watch them for a bit just so I could manage. We waited over an hour for a single pizza and when we asked what was going on the staff were rude and dismissive like we were the issue. My autistic children were overwhelmed by the noise and all the commotion and one of them fainted from being so overstimulated and hungry. We even had to take her to hospital. It was heartbreaking to watch. This was meant to be a family dinner and it turned into a complete disaster. Honestly if you care about your kids’ wellbeing or want basic respect as a customer just avoid this place. Never coming back. Staff seriously need better training in how to treat people and the place needs to decide if it’s an inclusive club or a pub because right now...
