We walked in at 9pm for dinner on a hot summer's night. Given the late hour we confirmed with the staff whether we are allowed to dine in, they assured us it's fine and we were seated.
Upon ordering the food, both the entre and main course was served simultaneously, which was strange, but I guess it was done so in the interest of time.
The prawns were undercooked in both dishes and smelt raw. Also, my chilli basil fried rice didn't contain any basil and was overseasoned with extreme amounts of pepper. The food was very poor and warrants a 1/5 rating in itself.
Now the service; within minutes of serving the food the waiter proceeded to turn off the air conditioning making us uncomfortable on a hot summer's night. To add to the torture a few minutes after that they also turned off the pedestal fan. Eventually, one of the workers literally came right behind our table and started rolling the blinds leading to dust going everywhere.
Clearly the staff weren't pleased at the hour we walked into the venue, we even overheard them talking about a missed train. If this was such an issue why did they seat us and allow us to dine in? Luckily for them, the poor food and the above strategies worked wonders and we got out of there without finishing half the food meaning no more missed trains for them.
Overall, extremely poor service combined with poor...
Read moreA bit hesitant to review this place, cos I usually try to rate restaurants as high as possible, so two stars is the most I can do. Place is called ThaiBurn, and yes, I got burned. What's wrong and what's right with it? First the cleanliness... tables without any tablecloth, sticky to touch, feels not that clean at all. Then the service, ordering from the table while the lady stays behind the cashier, a few metres away, not really planning to approach, and the there is the "real Thai food" cooked by bangladeshis who have never tasted thai and got recipes from YouTube. No, the chilli is not the only spice. No, oil is for cooking, not something that should be dripping from the noodles. Yes, peanuts, coriander and a bit of palm sugar are essential for Thai cuisine. No, salt and pepper should not be needed if the meal is cooked and seasoned well. Thanks god the servings are small, so the experience doesn't last too long. So, was there anything good? Yes, the chicken on its own was nice, well marinated, good flavour.... to bad that everything else was sub par.
And there will not be a follow up review. I respect my tastebuds and I respect myself enough not to go...
Read moreThis restaurant used to be really good, like really good. I remember coming here every week. In the matter of 3 months, this restaurant went from great to mediocre. We waited 30 minutes for our 3 dishes, two servings of Thai Fried Rice and a Black Bean stir fry. We also wanted Singapore Noodles, which they didn’t have at that moment, so we changed our mind and decided to order Pad Thai Noodles instead, which we cancelled, I’ll tell you why. I’m not kidding when I say this, I literally heard the workers asking each other what noodles are. Like what… This is a Thai restaurant, one of your staple dishes are Pad Thai Noodles…
Enough ranting, the girl that served us was nice, she came over a few times asking us about how the food is and was very helpful. To leave it on a good note, this restaurant can get better if they just speed up their cooking times and hire some experienced chefs.
thats all.. this restaurant used to be one of the best in the area.. but...
