Good value pub food that rarely disappoints. Nice cosy fireplace and lounge for those arriving early in winter. Cold beer and cocktails to ease the heat of a summer day. The staff have always been consistently helpful and friendly. This is a great place to catch up with friends for dinner and a chat at the end of a long day. The beer is on tap and the Chicken Parmigiana schnitzel portions here are legendary. I can't say we've had a 'bad' experience... and as you can see by our sample photographs, we've spent a few years visiting the Royal Hotel. There's some wonderful old history to the building - she shell of which can be glimpsed on the inside and outside if you have a keen eye. 4-Stars but not 5? I once came in alone and the restaurant wasn't busy... mine was the only order at the time: a Chicken Schnitzel. After 40 minutes of waiting, I spoke with the staff and they discovered that they had lost my order. It took over an hour to receive my meal but the staff were polite and resolved the issue immediately. Additionally, they occasionally serve well-done steaks instead of medium-rare. Normally their kitchen is very busy and his has only occurred on rare occasions. Staff will resolve any issue of this nature if you raise it with them. Recent changes to their Lemon Meringue Pie (which was previously the material of virtual Urban Legend) were disappointing in both portion and taste. But the vegetables and salads are fresh and the food portions are usually quite generous - and of good quality. Pricing is extremely reasonable and I can't think of many restaurants offering this level of food are similar prices. If someone passes your table with a meat raffle, buy a ticket or two. Be sure to try their ice-cream infused milkshakes for nostalgic purposes. Note that Saturday nights can get loud after 10pm and that the Karaoke is an acquired taste for some at around this time. Still one of our favorite places in far Western Sydney.

I came here with the family a couple of months ago and was pleasantly surprised by the tidy renovations the venue had undergone. While ordering my lamb I noticed their dry aging fridge with an array of quality cuts from high profile producers at very reasonable prices. I told myself I’d have to come back and get a mammoth steak soon. My lamb that night was fantastic! All fam were happy for me and my order. Unfortunately I’m not a sharer ha I came back last week for my steak. We ordered a 1.1kg rib eye from O’Connors cooked medium. It was grilled spectacular well. Exactly what you would expect for such a high quality cut. Could not have been more pleased with the meal. The staff were all incredibly friendly and happy to have a laugh. They made the whole experience just that much better. Exactly what you want from a local pub where you’d take the family. Well done team!

Since the renovations to the bistro area, this is almost like two separate pubs! The front bar is still very much a "locals lounge" and feels a bit bleak. However, the spacious dining hall has a very light, bright and welcoming feel. It's simultaneously cosy and open. It's a lovely spot to have a meal. You can book big tables for large groups or find a cosy corner for a date night dinner. Really great. I love the little gelato station to the rear of the hall. I didn't get to try it out, but I will give it a go next time. Also, loved that you can see the meat they are working with in the glass cabinet next to the ordering station. Even though they were super busy, I don't think it took more than 20 minutes for our meals and the staff were lovely. We asked for all kinds of additional condiments and about the ingredients in a few dishes (allergies). Would recommend!

Friendly service where orders are filled with care and attention to detail. Realistically sized meals where quality trumps quantity. An essential element of a Michelin restaurant but rustic enough to remain a good place to eat. It begs the question of what people might expect from their own interpretation of excellence. Here pizza and steaks rule after which other pub foods are a close second. Emphasis on community loyalty because produce is purchased from local suppliers making The Royal Richmond a jewel in the crown of Hawkesbury. Suitable venue for a quick weekday lunch or a leisurely first date. However, on the weekend it is somewhat crowded with those enjoying a leisurely lunch and possibly second date or family meal. Old pub frontage is more than a proscenium. It rivals the old English pubs where good conversation can go on for hours amongst legends in historical photos on the walls. The quality of the woodwork, seating and furnishing have captured a five star pub ambience. Traditional practices still persist. As would be expected modern updates of monitor inclusions enable patrons to keep abreast of scores on relevant cultural races. Watching the footy! Surprisingly absent is the overt presence of a gaming room but there must be one there somewhere? Not that I missed it. Nor is there a constant reminder of the never ending Keno game continuously played in other venues. Modern toilet facilities and well lit and roomy makes it a relaxing...

Minus a star for the dry, unseasoned and tasteless potato skins. The potato skin was literally that. So imagine you hand peeled a potato, that's the skin you get. Everywhere else in Australia, you get a lot of potato included. In over 50 years of eating out, this place has the most disappointing potato skin dish. It might be airfried cuz there was hardly any oil at all. Good if you're a health conscious person. We forced ourselves to eat it as it was a waste of $. Big blobs of sour cream helped.

Their pizza was amazing though, thank goodness. The crust was nice and thin. Tasted as if it was woodfired but it's not. My friends ordered the one with prosciutto so it was nice how each piece gets one. Generous! I had the garlic one, they weren't as generous with the garlic so I gave my pizza away.

Loved the beet salad! The veggies were not overcooked, it was done just the way I like it. Fab mixture of other veggies! Will order it again.

I had the whiskey ice cream. Barely can taste any whiskey but still good.

Staff were very helpful and did their jobs well. It's nice to see staff with good work ethic.

I can't wait to come back and try their steak. It looks...
