Somewhat smaller and much less bustling than its bigger cousins, Kurrajong is a delightful town off the main Bells Line of Road between Sydney and points west. It's worth a stop and we needed a human refuelling pitstop on our journey across the Blue Mountains. We chose the Village Cafe (there's lots of other options too) and were so glad we did. From the friendly greeting at the door right through the efficient table service, we couldn't fault this place. It's clean, light and airy and there's a small patio overlooking a leafy valley if you prefer outdoors (and the weather is clement). I enjoyed the Steak sandwich and hubby had his Fish and chips and salad. A couple of minor substitutions were no problem and both were delicious. In fact, the friendly wait staff gave you the impression nothing was a problem! Wine, beer and ciders are available, but we "had promises to keep and miles to go before we could sleep", so it was tea for me and coke for the bloke! We don't often go this way as our family is north of Sydney, but if we ever do, we'll be back for sure. (It's just down the road from Hill Billy Cider, also worth a stop!) And on your way up (or down) the hill, leave your windows open so you don't miss the enchanting call of the bellbirds...

Went for breakfast on Sunday. Booked a table a week before and it is was like the restaurant wasn’t ready for the amount of diners that had on Sunday. Took ages for us to order and then when we did coffees came after food and half the coffee order was missed. The three stars were for the food and the meals were fresh and full of flavour. Ordered 2 coffees half way through breakfast that never arrived so asked to cancel them but instead they came over with them in takeaway cups abs said sorry the docket fell but here you can take it with you. We went for a birthday and advised the team it was our fathers birthday to which they said they would do something for him. Nothing was done or even mentioned. On paying the bill when asked how was everything and we responded just ok the owner didn’t even think to follow up with a question about it. The staff really need more training and if you know your going to be busy more hands to help out. I’m in the hospitality industry and was hoping for a great meal based on reviews but was very very disappointed. My family said it would be there first and last time to visit which is a shame.

We had a beautiful breakfast at The Village Kitchen Kurrajong. We arrived early, but the staff were incredibly welcoming and happily accommodated us without any fuss. The service was fabulous — warm, attentive, and made us feel right at home. The food was amazing — fresh, delicious, and clearly made with care. The venue itself is lovely, with gorgeous valley views and morning sunshine that made the whole experience feel extra special. A perfect way to start the day in Kurrajong. We’ll definitely be back next time we’re in town!

I cannot fault The Village Kitchen Kurrajong at all.

My group was greeted at the door and made to feel welcome immediately. We were initially offered seating in the courtyard but when the server realised my daughter's dog was an assistance dog we were invited inside. We requested a table on the rear deck which was delightful.

We each received a lunch menu to peruse, as well as the daily specials and wine list. Each dish was well described and very reasonably priced.

We decided to start with a mocha, iced coffee and iced chocolate. My mocha was, hands down, the best I have had - the temperature ideal and flavours balanced to perfection.

The dishes chosen were - Gnocchi with roasted pumpkin, goats cheese and toasted walnuts in a burnt butter sauce; Marinated Lamb Cutlet with Pearl Couscous; and Pork Sirloin with an Apple & Walnut Salad. Each dish was generously portioned, cooked to perfection and absolutely delicious.

The dessert menu was very tempting but we requested a carrot cake and a New York cheesecake (with cream but without the offered icecream - the whipped cream was packaged separately too!) as takeaways because we were so satisfied with our meals .

What a way to recognise Australia Day - enjoying Australian produce prepared by skilled hands and a dose of love, as well as being waited on by the friendliest and most attentive servers in a cosy little Aussie business.

Today was our third visit to Kurrajong Village Kitchen and it won't...
