We went there for the first time this morning, decided to bypass McDonald’s and their usual waiting bay. Instead we waited over 10min and our coffees still weren’t made. There was one customer in front of us who obviously knew the barista and proceeded to tell her entire life story while she made a single coffee. By entire life story I know her age, her wedding anniversary, how many kids she has, why she decided to have to have them at the age she did, it was her birthday, she was going to Birkenhead point to shop, when and where she got her current boots from, how comfy they were,.. and the list goes on. Customer service is one thing but allowing some bored housewife to explain her life story while we wait like idiots for 2 quick takeaway coffees is a joke. We will never come back to this place. The barista even tried to justify that she was the only one making the coffees.... meanwhile some poor old bloke came in after us and stood around for 5 mins waiting to even place his order. If you haven’t been here and you’re curious, don’t bother. It’s full of wanky, pretentious idiots (customers and staff), you’re better off sitting in a maccas waiting bay for...
Read moreZokoko is a genuinely fantastic place to get a coffee. Don't be put off by its industrial surroundings because this is not only a cafe but a chocolate factory. Zokokos chocolate is even more amazing than their coffee and no visit is complete without at least trying some. Regularly there are delicious cakes, brownies and cookies and they all make use of zokokos delicious chocolate. The coffee is probably the best in the area and would be up there as some of the best in Sydney. I'm a cap drinker myself and I'd say that the zokoko chocolate on the top really elevates it to something special. On top of that the staff are all super friendly and a passionate about their chocolate and coffe. It's not place for a full sit down meal, and sometimes parking is hard but this is an unmissable...
Read moreAll of the pralines are delicious. What's best will depend only on your preference. For me, the passionfruit waas the best, followed by Raspberry, Pineapple and Blood Orange. Of the bars, the 70% Orange and Anise Myrtle was a standout. Somewhat remiscent of Mayan or Aztec style chocolate. The 40% Sea Salt and Tasmanian Pepperberry was also amazing. I prefer dark chocolate, but the pepperberry added another level to chocolate and sea salt, which is already a great combination. The 70% Mbingu single origin was also worth getting. So smooth and somewhat fruity. If I could make a suggestion, it would be to do a chilli chocolate. Chilli and chocolate is such an underrated combination. Definitely worth stopping in and buying some...
