Average. Tourist trade mostly because I don't think too many locals will bother going again. There is very little monetary value in what is on offer. The place has had a decent, long overdue, but definitely not well considered, makeover. Why put the counter so close to the door? Especially such a huge counter area? Patrons are forced to line up right in the doorway and need to shuffle around each other to fit the next people in. You are also lining up right in front of the drinks fridge... There is no menu board so patrons need to share one of only four supplied menus. There is only one server meaning quite long delays, especially since she keeps stopping to hand out said menus and calling out the fish variety available. She also has to leave the counter to grab beepers from the dining area. Also there were no scallops in the meal, even though they are advertised as being there. If there were a fish and chip van in the area I think they would be in a bit of trouble... Update: The owners are obviously upset by my review and I'm truly sorry for this, however this is my honest experience of the business. I wish this business well but personally I am unimpressed. And I am a local who knows a bit about...

Best Fish and Chips in Southern Tasmania, if not the Southern Hemisphere.

Fresh and locally sourced seafood with a range of hot and cold options such as oysters, prawns, crayfish and ceviche (absolutely delicious).

Perfectly cooked fish and chips while you wait and so refreshing from the usual Bain Marie soggy chips and dry fish. The increasing popularity means high turnover and a fresh product every serve.

Tastfully renovated with views one would pay top $$$ in any other restaurant for the views alone.

The Staff are clearly enjoying themselves and credit must go to the new owners Sandra and Mark for their ability to breathe life into the Dunallley community which they are clearly excited to be a part of.

Ally, at the front of house, is pleasant and friendly and gave us the history and local knowledge on the resident Elephant Seal - Neal.

The Cook gave us some local travel tips and had a friendly chat with us while we waited. The presentation of the meal was superbly rustic delivered in old fashioned butchers paper.

Do yourself a favour and try the best Fish and Chips you'll have eaten in a long time.

Bonus points for B.Y.O.

I'll certainly be a...

I have known Sandra for 30 years and when she combined with Mark years ago this is a power couple who know their stuff. They are 100% dependable in providing the highest level of service combined with an eye for detail to please , Sandra’s design and Marks dedication to his work, these two will not disappoint. Just to be there was inspiring and peaceful everywhere you look it’s just beautiful and that’s not including the absolute stunning scenery. I took my friends down in February and it didn’t disappoint with their Gin being one of my favourites that blow out all the other guns on the market, the colours are stunning , so tasty you can easily drink l this on the rocks. They are truly living their best lives in one of the most stunning spots in Dunalley bay ! If your looking for someone who knows what you expect , please give this a go, you will not be disappointed , a perfect escape for a breather this place is one of my favourites and I have travelled around the world but this is just a 1.5 hour away flight well worth every cent to be wowed !!! Great work guys I am so proud of your...

I've never been a huge liquor fan and came here after seeing the great reviews and didn't expect to get much out of it but some nice photos of the place. But! The sweet sweet lady (forgot to ask her name) at the counter took me and my family on a journey all about gin! It was so much fun to try the different flavours, she was knowledgeable and we felt so comfortable (unlike ahem the slightly snobby wineries around) I definitely learnt a lot and wouldn't hesitate to recommend this beautiful little spot to all my friends and family coming to Tassie. We bought a bottle of gin but the real gem was the unexpected but delicious whiskey the owner Mark let us try. I hesitate to write more because I'm hoping to keep this place my own little secret 🤫 but I kid you not- it beat comparably priced whiskeys from other famous Tasmanian brands right out of the park. Thank you so much to both Mark and wonderful gin lady for the wonderful experience. It has definitely been a highlight on our trip!

A year since new owners and revamp taken over by the same team at Dunalley Bay Distillery. A lot more comfortable now the insides have been redone with proper seating. Better menu options but the old fish and chips are still available although restyled and more expensive, we can appreciate why. Drinks are available including ones from distillery, there isn’t however any juice options which would be more kid friendly over only carbonated non alcoholic options. Place is spacious, staff are friendly, food prepared and served quick. We like how they’ve kept the traditional fish and chips served in paper wrapping that we were used to at this place. We heard someone ordering “gluten free” option for their fish and chips.

Stopped in the other day with two friends of mine for a tasting and I have to admit, not really being a gin drinker(it’s not as popular back home in Canada as it is here) I was pleasantly surprised. The lovely lady at the counter, she should have a name tag lol, was very helpful in explaining how the different gins got to be where they are. We sat in a very comfortable room with a beautiful view and enjoyed them all along with a delicious cheese plate. This place will definitely be a place I will stop again and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to anyone else in the area or anyone planning to get out and do a round of sampling in the area.
