After 5 long years in the waiting I’m back in Tassie from Sydney and I knew this bakery was somewhere on the way to Port Arthur having had one of their magnificent curried scallop pies then and still savouring the memory. After trying one at the markets, I knew it was not the same so off to Port Arthur we go - unfortunately Google Maps took us a different way and I could not see the bakery anywhere and thought I’m never going to find this place however heading back we stayed on the main road and suddenly on my left as I’m driving along I suddenly go past this bakery and I yell out Oh my god there’s the bakery! It was late in the day and I thought it may have been closed however my friend made me turn around and thank God I did! Poor Cherie and Amy must have thought I was a mad woman as I kept saying OH MY GOD I FOUND YOU!! Asking for 2 curried scallop pies I was beside myself when advised they only had cold ones left as we had no way of heating them up. However, the service we received was just amazing and Cherie said she would heat up the two pies up for us as she had still 20 minutes before having to close up. Whilst we were waiting we ordered a pepper pie and it was just magnificent and the best pepper pie we had ever eaten! The curried scallop pie was equally wonderful and everything I remembered! A huge thank you to Cherie and Amy for going out of their way providing wonderful customer service and really making my Tassie experience a 10 out of 10! Congratulations Danny the baker and owner - I can’t wait to come back next time I visit Tassie and I’ll certainly tell my friends that the best pies ever are from...

Reading they had the best scallop pie in Tasmania, we visited the Dunalley Bakery twice to secure our taste of one. On our first visit, early in the day, they were completely sold out but had more in the oven. When we came back later in the afternoon, it was evident that they rushed them to meet demand, because the pastry was thick and doughy, wanting for more time in the oven.

What the Dunalley Bakery’s Scallop Pie ($8) did do well, was capture the taste of the Tassy scallop the best, though in this exemplar, the curry flavour was much less evident. The number of scallops in this pie wasn’t particularly generous, and the bakery setting was a bland, tiled expanse that lacked character. They do have an ice cream fridge by Valhalla Ice Cream, who have been making ice cream in this state for more than two decades. Unfortunately the range they stocked on the day I dined tended towards child-friendly flavours like rainbow, rather than their more exotic vanilla yogurt, liquorice and...

I bought a vanilla slice here today , the creamy one with the patterned icing . It was delicious and big enough to share with my husband. Lady was very friendly and service was great . There were a couple outside having a chunky steak pie and the guy said it was very good .

After writing this review , the next morning we were heading off leaving Dunalley , so called in for a sausage roll or two and also bought hot cross buns. Tasty sausage rolls and nice and hot and filled my belly . The hot cross buns had plenty of flavour and sultanas . Once again the lady ( different lady from yesterday )who served me this morning was friendly and happy . Great service all around and very reasonably priced . From memory two sausage rolls and two hot cross buns were...

The Dunalley Bakery has restored my faith in Tasmanian baked goods! Banjo's was a zero, Dunalley Bakery is the hero 🩷🧡💚 Pies are cooked to perfection. I had to force Pauly Bonet to stop hoeing into his chicken and mushroom Pie, while I ordered the steak and mushroom. The flavours were on point and delicious. We also purchased a dimsim that wasn't battered and had a yummy crunchy bum, a sausage roll. On the sweeter side, Pauly most inhaled his custard years (it was just that yummy) and he got a sneaky little shortbread cookie, while I opted for a crowd favourite- vanilla custard slice and a lemon curd tartlet with cream cheese frosting for later. I'm glad we're only visiting Tassie, because if we lived here I'd need my own postcode.

Called in on Saturday just passed, it was a very warm welcome by the lovely staff :) The girls were patient and kind with lovely smiles waiting and having a giggle with me as there was a lot to choose from yummo Steak bacon and cheese pie and a fresh hot cup of coffee well deserved I must say! Finishing off with the freshest choc eclair was very delish indeed. I cannot remember what my friends ordered but I do know they both very much enjoyed. Thank you lovely young ladies we enjoyed our stop next time we are back in the area we will be sure to drop in again. :)
