Poor customer service. The staff did not greet you or exhibit even a smile. During transactions I was barely acknowledged. Not even a “thank you.” I witnessed one staff member that was making coffee roll their eyes and shake their head at customers. I was in disbelief at the level of unprofessionalism.
I really felt for one of the customers as I watched this staff member approach the customer with a sarcastic tone and even raised their voice at them, when a customer had just asked about their food. I hope the customer was alright and it didn’t ruin their enjoyable day at Cradle Mountain.
At lunchtime school holidays 1pm all the pastries were nearly empty, I was surprised they didn’t have more stock to be prepared for a busy time. The food was also extremely overpriced for what it is. They could really do something amazing here at Cradle Mountain - I hope they can improve in the future. I suggest some customer service and appropriate behaviour training for staff. People come up very hungry after enjoying their outing, all it takes is a smile and some...
Read moreThere is no menu to view . The line was 20 people long. Normally people eat at cafes to save time, in exchange for money. But by the time you get served here, you could have made your own lunch at home several times over so the economics don't make sense.
I have a few food sensitivities, so a menu is always good to look at so I can find a good, safe option. Unfortunately, the only way to find a good safe option here is to quiz the service staff at the register... With 20 people in the line behind you... The counter staff were clueless about what's in their products, having to go out the back for every single question. Not wanting to hold up the 20 person line any longer, I gave up and got an overpriced, bland quinoa salad. This could have all been avoided if they only provided a menu to with very basic information to look...
Read moreAfter a beautiful walk up the mountains and an unforgettable experience with wild wombats we were looking forward to a hot drink and maybe a light lunch. Very disappointing experience with the so-called Cafe. Room for only 14 patrons sitting. 4 tables was the only space. Extortionate prices on food and drinks. What little there was on offer. You could buy a cup noodle for $5 ( only 99c in a supermarket) and they will fill it for you. Very disappointing as the previous Cafe was larger, had a varied menu and was reasonably priced. With the magnificent rebuilding of the visitor centre and the lake building ,this was a huge disappointment. We were not alone in our feelings. Many walked in and walked out...
