25/5/22 Back today after being OS for a couple of months and Ernest & Ernesto is still a lovely place to relax, enjoy a fab Doppio plus the excellent conversation. I am home! Even indulged in a scrumptious carrot cake.
3/3/22-1/4/22 Ernest and Ernesto (unexpectedly) became a welcoming home away from home, while house (and pet) sitting in the delightful Longford.
A rather enjoyable Doppio ($5.00), scrumy snacks (cookies, biscuits and cake - locally made) and of course Mr Phil, the owner/barista/raconteur.
Phil has created what I dubbed, a 'salon' like experience. There is always a surprise in the decor (I sat there wondering if Phil moved things around daily to intrigue customers) and his collection of all things coffee, cigar and of course Messrs Hemingway & Guevara.
I could (and often did) sit for hours chatting to Phil and my fellow 'salonistas'. Thank goodness he doesn't do cooked food (or tea!), or I would have been there from opening to closing.

Read moreNovember 2021. I'm unsure if Ernest & Ernesto is a secret club, a speakeasy or a cafe. You're met upon to a velvet red cordon, akin to a West End members club. You're greeted by, one would assume, Ernest or Ernesto, who promptly queries if your "in or out". If you choose "in" the cordon is unclipped and opened, and you're whisked into the venue and sat at a table of his choosing. Table service is prompt, but service therein is lacklustre. Food and Beverage were average, but so is the cost. The venue is an eclectic mix of collectables, however I was a little thrown aback by the inclusion of a plastic cartoon figurine of Winston...
