A river relaxing Pizza Cafe Gallery. The Scorcher by the river Pizza Cafe, is just off the highway, beside the bridge. Great location, with commanding views across the river, boats, houses, bush and bay. The building is light filled bright, and modern. Attractive local art adorns the walls. In true Italian style, deli products, local wine are displayed for sale. Adorable Tasmanian hand made Teddy Bears, also displayed. Outside in front of the building a purpose designed shaded Al Fresco area. All creating an inviting ambience. We chose from an excellent Italian styled menu. Shared an entree Pasta, Shane's Special, Tiger prawns, local scallops, mushroom, bacon & garlic in a tomato & cream sauce. The serving was generous and very appetizing. Two wood fired pizza's, A venison calzone with plum and pepper berry relish, slices of smoked venison, red onion, mushroom and Camembert cheese, plus a Spring Bay Seafood, pizza with tomato relish, baby spinach, local spring bay scallops & smoked mussels, bacon and tasty cheese. Both of these pizza's would have to be up there with Italy's best, in Orford, amazing. All greens and seafood were sourced locally, along with the recommended accompanying wines. An absolute Tasmanian culinary experience. We finished with two fabulous sweet dishes, a rocky road calzone and a sticky date pudding. On leaving we were totally satisfied, with a full appreciation of the total experience this Cafe,...
Read moreI gotta admit, I was a little nervous going to Scorchers having read some of the reviews. But the tide seemed to have turned with the new owners so thought I’d give it a go. And I am SO glad I did!!
We booked for 5:30pm and ended up turning up half an hour early, but were met with smiles and acceptance even if this may have caused inconvenience. We had asked if sitting outside was ok as we were travelling with our dogs, and they could not have been more accomodating… there were even free dog treats on offer and water bowls. They were friendly with our two boys, and were so lovely and welcoming.
We ordered two pizzas (one large supreme and one small margarita), garlic bread and Greek salad, and were STUFFED. We ended up giving the dogs about half of the food cause we were so full!! It was all tasty, straight out of the oven (except the salad lol), and left us full and happy.
Sometimes Tassie hospitality gets a (deserved) serve as us locals can be a bit… direct. But the people at Scorchers were friendly, enjoyed conversation, open, and made us feel so welcome....
Read moreVisited scorches pizza in Orford with my family after hearing great things from friends so had to try. Only to be let down! 😢 We were welcomed an seated which was lovely. But ended up waiting for over 40mins,for 2 pizzas! We weren't offered complimentary water to have at the table which clearly was available. We then continued to wait as other patrons who arrived were served there meals before us clearing there own tables, which were vacated by previous patrons also were served there meals first. When we finally received our pizzas the margarita pizza we got was over powered by garlic which I thought was strange as i didnt order the garlic pizza!? An the barbecue chicken pizza we got was well over cooked! The cheese was non existent? "Burnt!"an the chicken looked like cottage cheese? I do wish I had received the type of pizza's my friend's had told us about but today, I feel they really drop the ball on this one especially for the...
