I’m not based in Morwell, I’m based in Perth but wanted to let local women in the area know about a bizarre interaction I’ve had with Conte Coffee Bar. The following is my opinion on a interaction that conte coffee bar made and went out of their way to make to me (a complete stranger) I feel it really just exposes how they feel about women. I made a light hearted Instagram story post at an opshop saying ā€œthis and my husband asking if I want more moneyā€ Surely it’s easy to understand that many women take a step back from working or you mignt have shared finances so what a couple makes is shared. Or that maybe a man works a traditional job but the woman stays at home doing the majority of the domestic labour. Another form of labour. They took the time to reach out to me (a total stranger) via the conte social media to tell me to ā€œget my own moneyā€ You might be thinking big deal! but this is really just a dogwhistle and the same mentality that people have about married women being ā€œgold diggersā€ or lazy. It’s weird to assume that money in a marriage is not shared and it also shows how we devalue the work women do in the home. It’s the same rhetoric that loser alpha bro men say and it helps perpetuate narratives that lead to abuse dynamics. As a woman you can choose to support local businesses who uplift women, don’t perpetuate messaging like women are leaching off their spouses. And especially don’t randomly dm complete strangers comments like this. It’s my opinion that this coffee business has let you know how they really feel about women! Also if they are messaging me a complete stranger on the other side of the country how many other women are they sending negative messages to….

Love, love, love everything about this little coffee bar! 🄰 It is both kid & adult friendly 😁 The coffee is absolutely amazing, best coffee I have found around here so far, along with the service. You can have great conversations with staff who truly love their job and everything about it. I also love that I can literally take my favourite coffee home with me 🄰🄰 Thank you for your fantastic work guys! Only downfall would be that they are not open longer

A bit on expensive side but great coffee and good friendly service. Large ( std) size almond lattƩ is $6.00 but happy to support local instead of big brands. Enjoy!

I don't even know where to begin. The coffee was lukewar at best, watery and tasted like it had been filtered through an old sock. I ordered a cappucino but what i got was more lie weak hot milk with a sprinkle of chocolate powder as an afterthought. The staff?? the owner who works there was completely uninterested in providing decent service, I was passing through and honestly, I feel like it was about RACE as a local customer had a better treatment. Not such a good idea with asian market/tourists supporting local business.

The place was filthy, tables were sticky, floors covered in crumbs, there was a weird stale smell lingering in the air. To top it all off, they charged premium prices for this garbage experience. I walked out feeling robbed. Avoid this place unless you enjoy bad coffee, bad service and dirty...
