We were really looking forward to dining here as the reviews are very good. The atmosphere and decor have all the hall marks of a great country pub /bistro. The lady who greeted us ( I am guessing the owner) was friendly and directed us to the 2 wait staff standing at the Bistro. And I guess that's where it becomes a bit of a circus. Over the course of the night, one waitress, no manners, no care attitude, and no customer service. Other waitress constantly running around after the other fixing up her mistakes, orders and apologising for the others incompetent behaviour. There was no direction for bistro service. I counted 5 different staff running around and double handling table service over a one hour period, and i must stress they weren't busy. The staff need to set tables and tasks and stick to them. The meal was nice, I ordered the market fish with couscous and quinoa. My husband had the lamb shank, and if you're a big eater, order something else or add an entree. IF they got their staffing and service sorted out, I would go a 4 🌟 You don't go out to dinner and like to pay for poor service.

15th Feb 2025: Service: not very friendly and very slow. Had to wait about 10 mins to get seated as no one was around to let us know to pick a table and then order food at the bar. It took 1 hour for the food to come out despite the pub being pretty quiet. Food: The side of carrots had a lot of beans, so clearly, carrots are too expensive to warrant a full side dish for themselves. Chicken parmigiana was huge and well cooked, but side salad was smothered in a creamy dressing, which wasn't very nice. Chips crunchy. Barramundi was served with potato mash with beans on top, then fish on top of that. There is too much mash and a very small sized fish piece. To the side of this was a whole lot of quinoa. Both the mash and quinoa had been over salted, as clearly the chef doesn't know what other spices to use. So, really, this dish was just a whole heap of mash and quinoa with a token bit of fish on top. Disappointing 😞!! Seats in restaurant are all worn and falling apart. Bench seat I sat on had lots of food pieces on it. Bar service slow due to lack of staff. Will not be returning.

Fantastic pub, dining is a delight. The meals we had where fabulous. I had the wagu eye fillet, medium rare ( also chefs recommendation to get best from the marbling) for anyone unfamiliar with the cut. It literally fell apart and melted in you're mouth, buetifully tender and moist. Wife had the pork belly, nice generous serving and absolutely delicious also perfectly cooked. We had sticky date with vanilla bean icecream very nice finish to a wonderful meal. Service is excellent, very friendly atmosphere and staff. Good selection of craft beer and ciders also a very nice wine selection. Can dine in or out in the beer garden if you prefer. Has live music Friday and Saturday nights 8:30 open till 11 pm. Overall highly recommend you call in if in Creswick or if in area is worth the drive. They have in-house butcher and meat is sourced locally. 5 star

This is the second time I've had a bad experience at the farmer's.

The First time the family and I went for the raffle on the Friday night not 1 staff member could tell us what time it was drawn all they kept saying was its up to the dish washer RICHARD whenever he is ready. A staff member went and asked him and he said 7:30pm, then it was 8:30pm and the next time he said 9:30pm, we were still sitting there at 9:45pm with my 2 year old son and when RICHARD did show his face, he was to worried about getting himself an Alcoholic beverage. I asked him why he was writing people's name on tickets as no one put my name on the tickets I brought and you had to be there when the raffle was drawn. RICHARD laughed in my face and told me he would draw the raffle when it suited him. I told him I wanted my money back and he then again laughed in my face. I got a refund and left that is no way to treat your customers, maybe you should get staff members that aren't to busy drinking on the job and actually have some manners and customers service skills.

About a month later the family and I went for dinner on steak night, i tried to order 1 chicken pama but they were out, i asked for the pie and they didnt have that either we ended up ordering fish and chips for me and my 2 year old and 2 steaks 1 well done and 1 medium rare, they both came out medium rare, 1 steak was sent back and about 40 minutes later I asked where it was and the lady behind the bar told me they had forgotten my steak and the kitchen was now closed but they could refund me my money for my steak. This is a complete joke for a hotel I'm not sure what kind of a chef you have working for use or your dish washer but you might want to rethink your staff. The lady who served me behind the bar was nothing but lovely, I've been coming to the farmers arms hotel for over 25 years when ed was running the place and I must say to the lady who has brought it and upgraded it to what it is today that place needs new staff and people who actually want to work there and take that from someone with over 10 years experience in the hospitality industry. I don't think I'll be...

This place has gone down hill massively! No longer any table service. We went on a Saturday night and it was quieter than usual.

We were a table of four. Two steaks, one parma, one beef ragu and a cheesy garlic bread. There were only two slices on the plate. The steaks came out after 1/2hr. We waited for the other dishes for 5mins before eating but they didn't arrive. We finished our steak before the other dishes arrived. My partner had to go to the bar and ask after our other two meals. The ragu finally came out after the waitress had double checked our receipt. We then waited another hour for the parma. They triple checked that we ordered a parma. The parma came and they forgot the gravy that was ordered. When the mushroom gravy came out it was runny stock with mushrooms.

There were no apologies from management and given the absolute stuff around, we asked if they'd through in some deserts. There was no response from any wait staff or management.

The quality of the food was OK. Mt partners steak was cooked perfectly. Mine was over cooked. The ragu was terrible, it tasted like tomato paste rather than a sauce. No complaints with the parma, it was pretty standard.

We asked two different wait staff if the aircon that was blowing on to us could be turned off or could we please move. It was attempted to be turned off but was still blowing on us and was freezing. There were plenty of spare tables we would have been happy to move. We were not trying to be difficult but it was freezing and we asked nicely.

I'm extremely disappointed in this pub. Such a beautiful pub that has always been a favourite of mine. I won't be back unless I see a change...

The food was fantastic however how the staff reacted to my friends and I ruined the entire experience for us. We arrived at 10 to 3 and were informed that we only had 10 minutes to order and we said that was fine. Once seated I enquired about a special I had seen on their website for $15 parmas before 3pm and was informed that it hasn’t been updated since COVID and I said that was fine and just ordered them at full price anyway. The menu had written on it that you could order at your table or at the bar if you preferred, once we went to the bar we received some comments about “it would’ve been easier if you waited at your table”, however she never told us to and we were only at the bar to hopefully save them some time. Unfortunately, the comments didn’t stop there and once we got up to go to the bathroom we could hear the waitress and chef yelling and swearing about our entire group in the kitchen making comments about how I asked about the special online and how “they come in with 5 minutes it’s not like I could’ve said no” but if they were hoping to close the kitchen they 100% could’ve told us they didn’t have time and we would’ve gone somewhere else. Incredibly unprofessional to be screaming in the kitchen about patrons that are sitting right outside the door, we could all hear them from the table and it really left us feeling extremely...
