We booked two deluxe rooms with ensuite for two nights. The restaurant was good. Can't complain about the service. People working at the restaurant or at the counter were nice. But the accommodation? Both the rooms were probably the worst accommodation I have ever stayed into, in my life, period. Where to start? The ceiling plaster is falling off. The ensuite is the worst ever. No bigger than a cupboard, the door knobs don't work, the bathroom looks disgusting and the toilet can't flush toilet papers down. The shower is so repulsive that no one wanted to take the shower. We tried to hold onto peeing in that disgusting toilet as long as we could, yet I feel like I had an abscess. And this holds true for both the rooms. The rooms were advertised to have microwaves. But to our surprise microwaves were absent from both the rooms. And when I complained about missing amenities, both the microwaves popped up in minutes. That does not negate the fact the lights were missing from holders as well. Did I mention the dead spider on my bed greeting us when we arrived? Granted there can be bugs in the room, but we arrived soon after the rooms were refreshed, and found dead bugs on a made bed. And yes, ceiling fitted with cobwebs in both the rooms. We could not wait to end our trip and return to home, just because the living conditions were so horrible. I don't blame the reception, nice people in the restaurant. But the hotel should stop providing family accommodation and stick to being a backpackers hotel or something. Because the rooms are not suitable or healthy or even safe for families. And they are not the cheapest. At this stage the hotel is a deception, and I even considered sleeping in the car. Sorry for being so harsh, but a five star trip to Wilson's prom was let down, as I constantly wondered, what went wrong? What did I miss when I was booking? Why didn't I book anywhere else, or even an Airbnb? I probably missed the fact that everyone in the reviews section is reviewing the restaurant and the accommodation. It's a learning that I should read better...

The staff were lovely, and the service they provided was friendly and efficient. I don’t have a bad word to say about their staff.

The room however, was not lovely. I used Booking.com and the photos looked lovely on the main page, but you need to look closely at the photos for the specific room you are booking, as some of them are in the hotel, and some are in the motel at the back. We unwittingly booked a room for the motel out the back of the hotel, and there is a marked difference in quality between the hotel and the motel.

The carpet was old and stained, the room was very dated, in need of a fresh lick of paint, and a replacement counter in the bathroom. The bathroom door also scrapes loudly on the bathroom tiles when you open or close it, which means bathroom trips in the middle of the night wake up your partner. There was also a floodlight right next to our room window which illuminates the beer garden; that stayed on most of the night, which made it hard to sleep.

Obviously not within the total control of the venue, but the patrons leaving the pub at the end of the night are not particularly considerate. In particular, the one punter that set off their novelty car horn four times before revving their engine as they drove off, at around 11:30pm on a Friday night.

Finally, at $280 for two people for two nights, it was more expensive than most Melbourne hotel rooms.

If I were to give them another chance and book again, I’d book the ‘Budget Double Room’, which is significantly cheaper than the ‘Queen Room’, yet of a noticeably...

We know this hotel can really deliver & we also know you have your off days which it is unfair to be judged by. We must have had a below par day so read on for why we felt this but form your opinions by reading multiple reviews. We were greeted & provided with a menu & our attention directed to the specials. The pulled lamb looked good. Meanwhile my wife was drawn to the southern fried chicken although wanted only a single piece of chicken. Time to order. When I asked for the pulled lamb there was some concern & after checking was told none of the specials were available. This was at 6:15pm so I don't think there had been a run. Oh well. Beef cheeks for me. Southern fried chicken. Could I have that with a single piece of chicken. Some fairly involved interactions on the POS & yes, that could be accommodated. Only when I returned to the table did I discover evidently 2 pieces of chicken cost the same as a single piece. In case you were wondering, only 1 piece got served. At this point we got to eating & we couldn't fault our mains. On the dessert menu was toffee apple crumble. Sounds delicious doesn't it? Two serves thanks. What arrived was a bowl of cubed stewed apple covered with dried rolled oats and a scoop of ice cream. Maybe chef had to call in sick and staff struggled to serve dinner. That's why I share this with you. If you have a less than stellar dining experience don't assume that it is the norm. There are staff working to keep you fed. On the other hand if I find the same outcome a couple more times maybe I won't be as...

This old art deco hotel delivers good value budget accommodation. The room was sizeable with a comfortable double bed with ample pillows. It is however 'barebones' accommodation with nothing like coffee & tea making facilities or a fridge in the room and share bathrooms. I cannot fault the courteous staff who, upon hearing I'd been attacked by mosquitos on the first night, left a can of insect spray in my room. The hotel is well maintained and clean but little money has been spent on any renovations of note. I was surprised to notice that the smoke alarms on the landing and in my room were disconnected which I'd thought would be against the law. There is only a small bar area with pool table downstairs but an expansive restaurant area. This is not surprising as there are few dining options in Fish Creek, particularly on Mon - Wed (shops are mostly art/craft and targeted at weekend tourists) so the only closest option then becomes eateries in Foster. I tried their Chicken Schnitzel but was less than impressed eating only one bite of the Chicken and leaving the rest. The crumb coating seemed to have taken on the flavours of all the things previously fried in the oil and the chicken had no texture. It might've just been a bad night but I was hesitant to try again. (A pub steak will set you back $44 these days and a Small Glass of post mix Pepsi $4.20)

Came here for a business trip in Waratah Bay but wanted somewhere with vegan food. Did not disappoint. They have vegan classic pub menu including parma, schnitzel, bolognese and tofu curry rice. We had the parma and schnitzel (pics) and they tasted amazing. Partner had sticky date pudding and brownie for desserts and both were fantastic too. The staff and location are great. 5 stars for both. The room is okay, you get what you pay for. We've got the queen room with ensuite which is big enough for us two. Bathroom is nice and clean. There's a toaster, kettle, microwave, free coffee tea and biscuits. The reason why I left 3 star for the room is because there are 2 working lights out of 5. The main door can be pushed open with super strong wind while being locked (happened once only but that's enough to make me uneasy). Gaps above and under door so wind was blowing all night. If you're a light sleeper, this along with the fact that you can hear all of the noise outside will be difficult for you. We are heavy sleepers but still got woken up a few times throughout the night. In saying that, I'd still stay again because these don't bother me as much since I'm here for the food and location mainly. But if your priority is different, maybe consider the above or just prepare for that.

It’s basically a hit and miss place. Had dinner on Friday 26/02/2021 food was really good it’s highly overpriced but after a tiring day of walking in the prom we just needed some good food which we got. We ordered the Fishy platter which was really good, Garlic prawns entree value for the money and really good garlic sauce and also we had Carbonara for kids good potion and taste good as well. Kids said there’s too much pepper in it but it was good taste for us. Because of our good experience on Friday went back for lunch on Sunday 28/02/2021 but we didn’t enjoy the food much this time. Ordered fishy platter again which was really oily and soggy and we didn’t get the ranch sauce which we got on Friday, also got asparagus and leek risotto not much of flavour in it and not that enjoyable. Pork sliders good size 3 mini sliders was okay. Highlight of the lunch was the onion rings those were really good in the menu it says onion rings with spiced aioli but we didn’t get the aioli and the staff didn’t even know it comes with the onion rings until I showed the menu and asked for it then she bought it to the table. Overall we really enjoyed all the food on Friday and not much on Sunday definitely the food is overpriced. And make sure you get everything in the menu.
