Stopped for a coffee and an 'egg and bacon toasty'. I was given the toasty first and I could see some sort of sauce in it...it was in a bag and clingwrap and I had not opened it. When I asked I was told it had BBQ sauce (which I don't like) and I asked if I could have one without that. A woman then came out and proceeded to argue with me that I should have asked in the first place. She was confrontational and wanted to blame me for not somehow enquiring if it had any unnamed ingredients in it. Her only solution was to exchange it for an egg and bacon bun which I reluctantly agreed to. That turned out to be sweet and pretty horrible. She told me to throw the (unopened) toasty in the bin which I did. She then asked me sarcastically if there were any other ingredients I didn't like that I should tell them about. :( :( I fired back and told her she should describe her offerings accurately to avoid any such disputes.
When my coffee arrived she said 'drink it all up'. Which made me think she had tampered with it. To be on the safe side I threw that in the bin too and bought another coffee at the bakery across the road. $14.65 for a VERY unpleasant experience.
There was vinegar and tomato sauce etc on a barrel outside the service window. Why not BBQ sauce? When I buy something advertised as an egg and bacon toastie... That's what I ( reasonably, I think) expect. I don't want a secret dollop of bbq sauce and I certainly don't want an argument with someone who is aggressive and unreasonable. If they described the product as it is, and put BBQ sauce outside for those who wanted it then all would be fine. Will NEVER go there again. They get 1 star because I cannot give zero, but I...
Read moreI'm a little biased but ... I often visit as the cafe is also my post service. They are also my friends, so be nice 🙂 please 😘 They make great coffee (see photo) Magnificent sandwiches, the Reuben is a favourite of mine. Named more after the artist Peter Paul more than than Reuben Kulakofsky as it's a piece of art more than a couple of bits of bread with random stuff in it. The sausage rolls are made with proper puff pastry rather than the seed oil filled stuff. Home made dim sins (Freudian slip intended 😏) and the list goes on. Sonya closes at 3 as she starts very early and has lots to do after work. It's also in the prettiest valley this side of Bermuda triangle, (slight exaggeration.. 😊 but see photo and you may agree) So visit, grab some lovely food , coffee ( they have a cracking 4 shit extra large 🍯 .. oh... I nearly forgot, the vanilla slice is , well you just try one! No exaggeration, it's magnificent!! Then visit the cherry place up the road, get some natural soap from Dindi naturals, have a couple of drinks at the pub, then explore the local area, wonderful views everywhere. All the best and...
Read moreKeep driving. Horrible people with overpriced food that is certainly not worth half of what they charge.
I ordered two toasted sandwiches and was charged $29. After waiting for 25 minutes for my order, I politely asked the dark haired woman how much longer the wait would be. She said she would check with the kitchen and I said to her that if they hadn't started my order, I would like a refund as I needed to be somewhere. She replied in a shrill, condescending voice that if I was in a hurry, I should have ordered something that was ready to go and that there were no refunds. I didn't want to cause a scene and reluctantly bit my tongue. There was no one else waiting and no reason why two pre made sandwiches should have taken 30 minutes to toast. There was also no reason for the woman to be so rude but looking at some of the reviews here, it appears to be a common occurrence.
The food itself, was average at best and I gave my toasted sandwich to one of my travelling companions.
Like many others, I try to support local business when I'm on the road, but I would suggest giving this one...
