Golden Square Hotel — Restaurant in Victoria

Booked a table for 10, 5 days in advanced, due to Covid. Got there and they didn't have the booking. We were told to eat our meals 'fast' and then we could go to the bar or join the private function. At this point the bar was breaching regulations along with the private function. People everywhere, to the point where it was hard to move around. Couldn't even get the table we booked. Still waiting for an apology. When we asked to add seats to our table with 8 seats (even though we booked for 10), staff were rude. We waited so long for our meals that were supposed to be eaten 'fast', that we had to go and ask where they were. Later on we are standing at the bar and 10 people who got there after us, we're served before us. I understand that mistakes happen but this treatment is appalling. It's quite sad when the trainee was the only staff member...

Hi, my name is Pam Lee. I wanted to let you all know about my experience I had at the Golden Sq. Hotel last Sunday. I was Celebrating my 70th birthday, with family and friends at lunchtime. It was great. The staff were brilliant, the food was fantastic and the atmosphere was awesome. None of my guests complained about their meals or the quality or quantity. There was 15 people in my party, not only that, there was another group in the next room Celebrating an 80th. So lots of meals to prepare. The Kitchen Staff were amazing. So were the Waiting Staff and the Bar Staff. I want to thank ALL the staff for making my experience so memorable. I would be remiss if I missed out on thanking all the people setting up on the day....

I had eaten lunch at the GSH solo a few times previously and found it excellent. Yesterday I took my visiting daughters for lunch in the bistro telling them to expect a very good counter lunch experience. I was sadly disappointed. The chips were very good but that was the highlight of our meals. My vegetables were cold and nearly raw and the parma was far below the delicious standard I had enjoyed previously. Both of my guests ordered identical burgers and one was fine but the other had to have its egg discarded as it was more raw than cooked. The egg on the other burger was fine. The service and the atmosphere of the dining area was faultless, a shame I need to seek out a new hotel for my occasional...
