We remember this watering hole from many years ago. It was the place to be. We were passing through and had decided to stay at the caravan park across the road. Let's go to the pub for dinner, we thought. 7pm. The greeting we got was a girl standing at the till chewing gum and adding up the dockets. "Be with you in a minute guys" .....we waited.... Shouldn't it have been a case of putting the dockets down, yes please can I help you? Next step was dinner order. While we were waiting a patron asked for knives and forks from the man at the till taking orders. "Yep" and kept taking orders. Not even bothering to get hold of another staff member or get them himself. I was next. Again..."yep?" Maybe get the knives and forks before you serve me. "Oh yeah". 2 of the meals on the specials board weren't available. Come on it was 7.20pm. Ordered. Pleased to say they came out pretty quick. We did overhear that same person say "thank f...k when he was told the kitchen was closed and proceeded to plonk himself at the bar. The table clearing was another disaster. It seems only the plates were cleared by the wait person who delivered the meals. The glasses would be done by the young gum chewing girl. Sorry. She was busy doing nothing behind the bar. We sat outside where a table of ladies had left. The plates were gone but the glasses remained. Sorry, but the standards and service arent there anymore. The other thing was. We were just lokking around the pub. We looked into a room which was a dining area. The door was open so we stuck our heads in to have a look. We were snapped at and adked what we wanted as this was a private function. Sorry. No message or signboard and the door was open. Dont be so...
Read moreNothing pleases me more than writing a review for a great place like Killy pub (Kilcunda Ocean View Hotel). Itâs been a while since weâve visited and we had heard there were new owners. I do recall the last time we were there it was a dark dingy place with little atmosphere, the bistro and bar were separated which didnât seem to help with any flow. Well what an amazing experience last night was! The Princess and I ventured in and although we didnât have a booking we were able to get the last non booked table. Browsed the menu and off we went to order, met the new owners who were an amazing couple. I ordered the scotch fillet with fries and slaw and the princess went for lamb shanks with mash and veg. Meals came out quite fast and both were tasty and good size portions. Steak cooked exactly how I like (medium rare) and the princess said she wanted to lick the plate clean. Desserts were salted caramel cheesecake and a chocolate lava cake with a generous sprinkling of white chocolate and coconut around a dollop of cream. Both were phenomenal. Guinness on tap for me, CC & dry for the princess topped off a great time here. Will definitely be back for more...
Read moreMy family came here today as we were at the Kilcunder Lobster festival, meals we ordered were, chicken Parma chips and salad, battered flat head fillets, chips and salad, and the kids spaghetti linguine. First of all the bar staff were attentive, and friendly especially Riley. Food came out in a timely manner. The atmosphere was great! I love the new management and what they have done with the place! Our food, my son who orders a parma everywhere we go, and we eat out alot, said it was his top two parmas! The ham was smoked, perfect amount of cheese and cooked perfectly. Chicken was soft and juicy yet the crumb was nice and crispy! Best linguine we have ever had full of flavour. After telling the wait staff how impressed we were thwy said the nap sauce is home made. I could tell the difference it was full of flavour. The flatty fillets were fresh and with a beautiful light batter. The homemade tartar sauce was fresh and complemented the fish perfectly! Thanks guys we will be back! Congratulations to the new management! What...
