This place is thoroughly worth going to for some seriously tasty Mexican. Personally, I prefer the food here over both Mexican Kitchen & Cantina.
I had a couple of margs that were also superb, very well priced & much less 'industrial' than the ones you get at Mexican Kitchen (which, for the record, I also really enjoy).
'Mad Mexicana' is a great way to sum up the decor here! It's very full on, to the point of being a bit kistch. I came in with my partner & daughter at 6pm on a Friday night & wasn't sure what I'd walked into! We were the only ones in the place except for several delivery guys waiting to pick up orders for takeaway patrons who must prefer their decor at home (so do I, but I can't make Mexican food this good unfortunately). Based on the lack of other patrons, my partner & I exchanged concerned looks & hatched a plan to order just enough food to see if this place was worth staying at.
We ordered some tacos & a cheese quesadilla for our little one, & they were surprisingly good! Two tacos for $10 was also excellent value, particularly considering they were really tasty. My passionfruit margarita was pretty delish so we stayed & ordered more. I had the biggest Cali Burrito you could imagine (see pic) & expected that the size was some strategic way of compensating for a lack of taste - but no! The burrito was very tasty & although I was pretty full from the tacos already I couldn't help but keep on ploughing into this Godzilla of a burrito!
I also ordered a mango margarita (for $11!) as a 2nd drink & it was also very tasty & a very generous serving (see the pic, I called it 'Mango Marg Mountain').
There was a procession of different delivery guys the whole time we were there, but strangely, no other dine in customers! The service was excellent, very friendly & attentive, so we were really surprised that there was nobody else there, but I'm looking forward to going back.
Overall, this place looks like a (former) crack den that's been dressed heavily in Mexican paraphernalia but it's WELL worth going to! ✅ Great food ✅ Great drinks ✅ Great value ✅ Great service

I ordered the Beef Nachos which was excellent, well done to the team. To the 5 stars I have already added. Five stars now for, service and atmosphere. Well worth considering.
Fresh, flavourful and filling. I must confess I was unaware of the existence of Mad Mexicana until I drove past it. This of course prompted me to try this Mexican restaurant coz I have tried all the other local ones. I ordered Nachos with chicken to takeaway. There was a ‘homemade’ wholesomeness about this meal I really enjoyed. I could also tell the ingredients were also really fresh. I would have to say the Nachos I purchased here is my new favourite. A very easy 5 stars from...

I had a very disappointing experience at Mad Maxicana in Kennington. The staff were extremely rude and unwelcoming from the moment we walked in — no greeting, no smiles, just attitude. It felt like we were a burden rather than valued customers.
To make matters worse, the food was just as unpleasant. The flavors were bland, the ingredients didn’t taste fresh, and it was far from what you’d expect from a place claiming to serve quality Mexican cuisine. The presentation was also sloppy.
Overall, this place lacks both good service and good food. I won’t be coming back, and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone looking for a decent dining experience.
Let me know if you’d like to make it more casual,...
