My partner and I were looking to expand our local horizons today and find a new cafe we hadn’t been to yet. We found Quarry Hill Cafe & Larder on Google and saw the reviews were quite good and were excited to give it a go.
Upon entering, there was a woman at the coffee machine, a woman waiting tables and a woman from the kitchen. We lingered in the service area and waited to be acknowledged, after about 30 seconds I moved toward the till to make my presence a little more obvious. The woman from the kitchen and the woman waiting tables continued their conversation while I stood there. The woman at the coffee machine didn’t look up, and I felt invisible for the moment.
Finally I interrupted their conversation and asked if we were to seat ourselves, and they said yes and then we were to order at the till.
So we found a table and sat down, then we started looking around for a menu as there was none on the table and no signage. My partner got up and went to find one or figure out what we were supposed to do.
The woman at the till told him it was only what was in the fridge on display. We were saddened as we were hoping to have something made fresh or have a variety similar to what the photos on Google indicated.
We left at this point and headed elsewhere.
Overall, it was a disappointing experience. We really want to support local business, especially the smaller places but we’re unlikely to return to this establishment due to the service we encountered and are unlikely to recommend our...

What has happened to Quarry Hill Cafe & Larder? A group of us called in for lunch on the weekend, we had coffees and meals. One of us had to have their coffee remade as the original didn’t taste right, the replacement was done promptly. Our meals however were very disappointing too. I ordered the eggs Benedict, the Hollandaise sause had congealed and was unpleasantly firm. The toast the eggs were presented on was so hard the butter like knife I was given struggled with the task. One of us ordered the Rocky Road for a desert, most was discarded as it tasted past its prime. The toast on the other meals was no better. We all came here about 12 months ago and I gave this café 5 stars, see review and pictures below from then. This time our experience was so very different and disappointing.
Previous review A group of us booked a table for lunch at the Quarry Hill Café & Larder. We were enthusiastically welcomed and served by Bronnie who was happy to do a little jig in the café as she helped us and the other customers at their tables. Our meals were wonderful and we couldn’t stop at just one coffee. You can eat in or outside in a purposely prepared courtyard. Well-done team! Well worth considering for a meal or...
Read moreGreat place for a quick coffee and sweet. Croissants and muffins at the ready in the morning along with a selection of slices to choose from. The coffee is available all the ways you might like along with a selection of milks and alternatives (soy, oat, etc). Inside and outside with abundance for those looking for a sandwich or a place to chat.
Dozens of riders stop for a coffee on their morning ride with plenty of additional seating available around them.
The barista was a bit stressed while we were there but it didn’t affect the coffee quality. Lil rough around the edges the morning this morning, but didn’t bother me any. The poor lad working with her had to enjoy her company though.
Overall great stop along the major road for both pedestrians and motorists. Highly recommend.
