The new owners are doing their best to update the hotel. They are very friendly and accommodating. The off white curtains don't keep out much light from the room. Some of the rooms still have a portion of the upper windows painted, which would block out more light. The BBQ area is well appointed and clean. It is a short walk to IGA and the bakery. The rooms are also clean. I was in one of the smaller rooms and there wasn't much space to put things. No counter space in the bathroom either. The water pressure is PHENOMENONAL! Plenty of hot water too! I did like the economical and environmentally friendly shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and hand soap. So much better than the little bottles! The mattress isn't the greatest, but there were plenty of pillows, and an extra quilt. A bit tricky to find the switch for the electric blankets though. I had to pull the bed away from the wall and then dig it out from the sheets and mattress. If you need a good night's sleep, like I did, don't book rooms 1-6. They back up to the pub. The live band stopped at 6 or so, but the juke box or whatever they use still blared out music late into the evening on a Sunday night. Also, the kegs, garbage, and other pub activities are one wall thickness away. As the reverse cycle and toilet exhaust face the pub, it allowed heaps of extra noise into the room. Would I stay here again, probably, but would make sure I had a room around...
Read moreVisited on 19th april, lunch for 4 people, 2 staff on duty, male staff member stated that the cheeseburger ordered was better than a mcdonalds burger, well sadly it wasnt, a dry combination that possibly had been overheated in a microwave, inedible skin layer of tomato, could have been improved with bacon and or perhaps egg, expected better for 18 dollars. Other dishes ordered also had the dry overheated microwave experience. Who cooked the chips?? Why were the chips still stuck together and served like this? People often wish to eat at the same time, but meals not on the table at same time. As to the premises, any chance that the holes in several walls ( evidence that someone had kicked in walls?) Can you conceal these holes, make them less visible to the public, repairs maybe costly, but somehow make them less obvious. The music played, i hope you are aware of the law re music played in a...
Read moreOur dinner booking was taken incorrectly however the staff went above and beyond not only to rectify a simple miscommunication but to ensure we had a pleasurable evening. Staff set up the table for four at short notice and gave us a complimentary bottle of wine for the (minor) inconvenience. Meals were lovely, generous servings and hearty fare which were much appreciated given the winter weather outside. Dessert was a stand out: warm sticky date pudding with caramel sauce and cream. Staff were polite, friendly and very attentive. The venue is older and like many others of its age has been subject to some questionable improvements. However, that doesn’t take away from the ‘friendly local pub’ feeling which in fact was enhanced by the blazing fire, and friendly, smiling staff. The hotel has a kids room, sports bar, and...
