This is close to my home and my favourite. If you’re craving authentic Thai cuisine in Geelong, Real Thai Grovedale is a must-visit. From the moment you walk in, the warm hospitality and inviting atmosphere set the tone for a memorable dining experience.

The menu is packed with traditional Thai favourites, and every dish bursts with flavour. I ordered the Choo Chee Prawns and Pad Thai, and both were exceptional—fresh ingredients, perfectly balanced spices, and generous portions. Service was friendly and attentive without being overbearing. The staff were happy to accommodate dietary preferences and offered great recommendations. I also appreciated the variety of gluten-free and vegetarian options.

Prices are reasonable, especially considering the quality and portion sizes. The restaurant is clean, cozy, and ideal for both casual dinners and special occasions.

Let me start by saying I have raved about this place for yeeeears, telling everyone it's the best Thai in town and truly meaning it. Something has changed over the past year, and it has a 'new manager skimping on costs' kind of vibe to it. Whether or not that's the case, I don't know.

The first indication was the 'cash is king' signs everywhere. Portions started to get smaller. Still fine, but smaller. Food still tastes okay... just not as magical and consistent as it was for many years. Still fine, but just fine.

Should I mention the chronic food poisoning I've just had that may or may not be related?

We went as a group couple of days ago, food was amazing everyone loved it. Yes the price is a tad higher than your usual Asian joint but serving size is generous with lots of protein - chicken, beef/seafood and vegetables- and this is Geelong so location has to be accounted for. We were impressed by the authentic taste and the amazing "wok hei " very much on point. Staff was also friendly. for takeaway even though we asked for 3 containers the lovely lady gave us 4 saying it would taste better if we kept the rice and curry separate which was just the nicest gesture. Thank you guys, we aren't in Geelong much but will definitely return if we're back...
