Went here for dinner on a Saturday night. There were 6 of us. Four of our meals arrived at the table at the same time. The other 2 meals did not. We had completely finished our meals before the last 2 arrived. My girlfriend ordered the egg plant parma.. one very thin, small slice of egg plant with a bit of topping, a few chips and some vegetables. A very small meal for the price. When we mentioned this to the waitresses, that she had waited ages for her meal and then the size of the meal was very disappointing and very bad value, she just said I will tell the Chief, . If we go out together, we want to eat together. She then ordered a sticky date pudding ( no offer of it being complimentary after the disastrous meal). What arrived was a tiny sticky date pudding ( we think the tiny ones that come from the supermarket and a decent amount of ice cream that was so full of ice that she couldn't eat it. The rest of the meals on the table were quite nice. It was just how the whole situation was handled that was annoying.....soooo...
Read moreThis was a beautiful meal and a compliment to the Royal Mail Staff. The shared entree platter was bountiful with a mixed selection of dishes, from melt in you mouth calamari, succulant beer battered prawns, divine mini spring rolls, mac cheese croquettes, moist mushroom arancini balls (best i've ever had) and a small nicely dressed salad to tie it all in. The herb encrusted kangaroo main was lightly charred and as tender as butter, melt in your mouth perfection over a lovely warmed beetroot salad and the vinagerette reduction went really well together. This is is a must try dish. The Star Anise pork dish was the weakest of the dishes, with the crackle disappointingly, not crackly with the sauce a bit intense and overpowering through the rice, although the star anise was subtle and nicely done. Asian greens were a bit hit and miss. All and all a great meal and we look forward to trying out some of the other dishes next time. Size, Quality and...
Read moreA great looking heritage building with ample parking, easy to find. The main bar has a good country vibe with a pool table, darts and a wide selection of drinks and some good recommendations from the barman. The interior is fresh and spacious, nice and clean and a comfortable atmosphere that's family friendly with plenty of room to tuck-away if you want a quiet meal. All the staff were very attentive and helpful. The menu selection was just right, most of the classics, some interesting additions and not too many options to make me indecisive. Definitely country-portions so I took some home with me, but plenty of people cleaned their plates! Between us we had some fish, steak and a parma, all of which were fresh quality and delicious. Beautiful range of desserts in the chiller-cabinet which are apparently made on sight - you could tell. Don't let some of the low-star reviews from years ago put you off, this is a great pub for either a quick drink or a...
