I had organized for my mini group of friends to celebrate our friend's birthday. I organized everything except for booking the table 🤭 Jackson who was in charge of the dining was so accommodative that we got a table near the fireplace. WOW! On a cold, rainy, miserable day. That is five star treatment for seniors.. The food was great, enough choices and the portion size was good. I must mention Jackson's impressive service with a smile 😊. Thank you Jackson for guessing our age. You really made us feel young and happy.😊

I'm passing through and thought to grab a meal. Nice pub, drink of choice is spiced rum and gingerale. I ordered the scotch fillet, veggies, mushroom gravy and fish sauce side. I also got the cheese garlic bread to mop up once I'm done. The food is spectacular, the service is accommodating. This is the best pub food I have had to date. Simple, tasty, good portions and just cooked with love. Well done guys. Fantastic. I'll drive from Sydney again just thinking about this place.

Extremely poor experience. I ordered the pork roast and not only was the pork really dry, but the entire dish was absolutely drowned in watery gravy. This made the vegetables soggy and inedible. The dish came with apple sauce but given all I could taste was gravy, I didn't see the point... This, and the Yorkshire pudding was burnt and soggy so I didn't even bother eating it. All that for $25? Definitely want my money back.

I’ve been here countless times now, and not once have I walked away disappointed. The food is always spot on — generous portions, full of flavour, and cooked to perfection. Whether it’s a classic parma, a juicy steak, or even just a bowl of chips, you can tell the kitchen takes pride in what they serve.

The staff deserve just as much credit — they’re consistently friendly, attentive, and make you feel genuinely welcome from the moment you walk in. It's clear they enjoy what they do, and it adds to the relaxed and positive atmosphere.

What I really love is that they’ve kept the original charm of the old pub. The building still holds onto its character — warm timber interiors, historic touches, and that cosy, familiar vibe that makes you want to settle in for a few drinks and a good feed. It’s the kind of place where locals gather, stories get shared, and everyone feels like a regular.

Whether you're heading in for a casual lunch, a family dinner, or just a cold beer after work, this place nails it every time. Can’t recommend it highly enough — it’s a gem of a spot that truly captures what a great local...

Always great friendly service and food is always cooked to perfection with fantastic serves.

Complimentary bread rolls which you never see anywhere else these days and what makes Royal Oak Hotel stand out from all their competitors is their salad range and vegetables they serve with their meals. Everywhere you go for meals is always green leaves, 2 slices cucumber and 2 slices tomato and red onion….BORING!!! Same same everyplace! Royal Oak offers a combination of pasta salad, coleslaw, beetroot plus green leaves and tomato and cucumber as the salad selection served with their meals. Vegetables range is also different to the ‘normal’ same same as other competitors.

Keep doing what you are doing guys in your meal offerings and prices and during these tough economic times you will continue to grow...

I was feeling very anxious and alone after being left without explanation and the owner and staff here were kind enough to go out of their way to make sure I was okay and that I got home safe.

Not to mention the community here is so friendly and accepting of all people it's commendable

I just wanted to say I can't thank these guys enough for what they did for me because even though I had a rough night the good outweighed the bad thanks to the lovely staff at Royal Oak and the supportive community in Ballarat in general

I personally am terrified of this world and the bad things that happen but it's people like this that give me hope and make me want to be more involved in the community even with severe anxiety

Once again, thankyou I'm very...
