A real treat and surprise of the road, for this city slicker. The red headed Sheila behind the counter is helpful, friendly and very funny. She whipped up a sandwich for me that she had her chef prepare, especially for my limited food needs. Clean bathrooms. Great selection of healthy and indulgent food (if you indulge in such decadence) and incredible array of on the spot made juices. Coming off the track again, if only to get a smile form the woman who served me. Ate my yummy food at Bird Rock Lookout. A must. Thank you!! Eat here.

Staff friendly, nice atmosphere but disappointed when ordered hard big breakfast with hard boiled eggs and I emphasised the point when ordering due to dietary requirements. When breakfast arrived I cut one egg in half and they were runny. I sent them back and the kitchen used the same eggs (cut in half) and cooked them longer. I would've expected fresh eggs but at least they kept the rest of the meal warm. Other than that food was ok coffee and Chi was good.

The Melbourne brunch is pretty standard throughout but sometimes it’s best to leave what’s on offer in Melbourne and journey out into the region to try something new. Aside from the lovely pumpkin soups special and the cheese toasties on offer there is one item you should head here for… the chocolate freckle. Compare all other freckles to this one. As it is the new standard for a chocolate freckle. All others are inferior.

I have just deleted my entire comprehensive foodie review of this cafe after taking time to construct something that would benefit anyone deciding whether or not to dine in this establishment. Yesterday’s lunch was an atrocity. We chose you out of every place in Torquay and Juc. Not transients. Locals with a voice and standards. This shouldn’t matter though. Some of your staff have the most disgusting attitude that we’ve ever encountered. Being made a fool of by hospitality professionals (you know who you are) doesn’t resonate. I’ve written this review with the utmost respect and care. Could have gone very hard. I feel like I’ve been very fair here without implicating anyone. We had a day off for what we thought would be a special experience. In the past 12 years of living here, I need to understand what’s going on. Have loved Swell...

Was welcomed well, fairly busy but not overly crowded.. Ordered at the counter for food. The food was delivered as a pair of dishes.. My dish was salt and pepper squid.. frozen and deep fried on a salad with very little love…However,, My partners dish however was an even more lack lustre affair.. After deep conversation, I have come to conclusion that the front staff don’t give a hoot, and the chef doesn’t receive feedback from the customers… Being a local, this is not a positive feedback loop for what was always a “ real treat” for us locals… Please, address what I have always have held. As a wonderful place to frequent. Recruit your staff with more precision. I don’t expect any response from management (names known). Leadership needs to come from the top and infiltrate. Times are tough....

Unfortunately I've watched this place decline over the years, to the point where I feel like my money is wasted there. I just don't go anymore, whereas I used to enjoy my regular walks there.

The staff are EXCEEDINGLY disinterested and rude. I feel like I'm putting them out by ordering a take away coffee. The food can be laughably bad and overpriced (do NOT buy the croque monsieur, it is inedible). No table service so I'm lining up to order inside for 10 minutes during busy periods.

This place is badly in need of some local competition. Their complacency is the cause of their undoing. I'd feel bad for them if they weren't so damn rude...
