Telegraph Hotel — Restaurant in Victoria

I never write a bad review, always good ones and refrain from saying anything negative, but tonight I am pretty upset by the way I have been treated. My husband ordered the meals and for me it was the apricot chicken, it came with chips & vegies or salad, and he specifically asked “no chips”. The meals came and there were chips, I said “no chips please” and the young girl took it away. She came back and asked “are you intolerant to chips”? I was taken aback by being asked that question, and replied politely “I have a liver disease”. The meal was returned with very few vegetables, the smallest piece of cauliflower, a piece of broccoli, carrots and some peas & corn. Back at the motel I have been quite upset by the way I was treated, 68 years of age and being asked why I don’t want chips. NO-ONE should EVER have to explain themselves! We will not be going back...

I recently had the pleasure of dining at the Telegraph Hotel in Chiltern, and I must say, it was an exceptional experience. From the moment I walked in, the service was top-notch. The staff were attentive, friendly, and made me feel right at home.

We visited on a Friday night. A busy bar. Only one other table beside us in the dining room. The meal took a good 45 minutes to arrive. We both had flathead salad & chips. Two pieces of flathead, a small lightly dressed salad and a very small serve of chips. A big eater might not have been satisfied by the meal size. It did lean towards what you might expect if you ordered off a 'Seniors' menu. The meal itself was nice. The salad might have handled a little more liberal dressing. All in all it was good.
