I ordered some chicken and mushroom soup for dinner and it was absolutely delicious. With this in mind, before we left I ordered 2 more to takeaway for lunch the next day.
Imagine my surprise when I opened up the container and found it to be all broccoli including stalks and a bit of some other vegetable perhaps corn. I was quite shocked.
I did contact the pub and a lovely lady by the name of Carole explained that they had probably run out of the original and substituted with another type of soup. No-one informed me of that. I also have food allergies so that concerned me quite a lot. To say I was disappointed was an understatement.
I was told that they were happy to offer 2 small takeaway soups next time we attended. Personally I think they could do better and actually inform people when they can't offer what they ordered. We just always seem to have issues with meals. Have been going there for a long time. I do want to reinforce that the original meal was outstanding. Couldn't fault it and great value. Tasted magnificent. Hence the...
Read moreThank you for a great lunch! As a pregnant coeliac, eating out safely is usually incredibly difficult (or often impossible). However, it was so easy today at the Middle Hotel. The menu had 2 dedicated gluten free pages with any contamination risks clearly noted (a couple of things are gf but not coeliac friendly). The ordering system reflected my coeliac- friendly order on the receipt - "coeliac no traces". The wait-staff all demonstrated coeliac awareness, and were easily able to accommodate my pregnancy limitations (e.g. no salad) with incredible ease. I didn't feel like I was a nuisance or unwelcome. I loved my gf (crumbed!) parma with veg and mash. It looked the same as my husband's normal one and even cost the same.
It may seem like a small thing to others, but you absolutely made my week. I felt safe, relaxed, and that i could really enjoy our beautiful lunch. We came here for lunch as i had heard about your gluten free menu, but I was still surprised and impressed. Thank you so much! We'll...
Read moreThis was definitely not the “best Parma of 2024”
Honestly all they needed to do was not have the parmas precooked sitting on top of each other to let the crumbs get all soggy.
It was so soggy on top and bottom… not a single part of the Parma was crispy, as a good Parma should be. It’s a real shame because the seasoning in the crumb actually tasted good and the tomato sauce and ham combo on top tasted solid.
This is probably what happens when a place gets too busy due to their award or vote from the previous year and they have to churn volume… so they have to think of ways to take short cuts to pump out more parmas.
The chowder was great. Even the calamari was good.
The seafood pot pie was okay, but you can tell it was heated from the fridge as it was cold on the bottom, which is standard, but needed longer in the oven for sure.
All in all, an above average experience, but they definitely won’t win the best Parma award again with that...
