The Last Straw — Restaurant in Victoria

The Last Straw Cafe (LSC), is a shepparton staple that has been with the region for 17 years. And is one of Shepparton premier foodie hot spots. With the distinctive design of the Cafe being that it is literally made of straw, and there is a clear window that shows the inside of walls of the Cafe. And the tables that you eat at as a customer are the most unique I have ever seen. Glass pane over unground coffee beans.

Speaking of coffee beans this leads me to the food of the LSC. The food is based of Thai food offering curries, stir frys and roti bread, oh my weakness. And the most delicious house made coffee I have ever tasted, with a smooth first sip taste, and glorious after kick that awakens the taste buds.

The customer service of the LSC is exceptional water on arrival and drink orders taken immediately if wished for. Smiling servers, and a a family run back of house that produces the delicious aromas, and most intriguing is the open back area that let's you as the customer see, the hard work that happens behind the scenes.

Who would have thought that all the way in Shep you can get an amazing laksa and awesome green curry lunch all in the one joint!! And this place is inside an industrial area too, so when we first drove there, I was like, are we sure this place is for real?! But this culinary delight has been a wonderful surprise, it beats many of the places we've tried, including ones nearer to the city. The owners certainly seem to have put a lot of thoughts and effort into the setup, the courtyard as well as the indoor space, are just warm and cosy, the two-sided "face" wall at the back is super charming, and the staff are wonderfully attentive. Their beautiful attitude matched by the superb dishes on offer. Hope if you visit, you will enjoy this place as much as we did today. But if you do go, try to book ahead, as we just rocked up without a booking, and was lucky enough to get the last bench table at the back. The joint...

THE LAST STRAW is AMAZING!! Don't be deceived by the semi-industrial location because it belies the most inviting interior of high beam thatched ceiling set in a pleasant, warm and welcoming decor. THE FOOD is the ABSOLUTE BEST I have ever tasted! Yao...Mum master chef...is gifted with turning out masterpieces of well-presented, delicious and appetizing dishes full of flavour!! Its not often I get to eat Thai food but my food buds absolutely LOVED THIS EXPERIENCE and will DEFINITELY be back for more with friends and family. Ranked up there with the best of Melbourne!
