Probably one of the worst hospitality experiences.. we were on a road trip and stopped here looking for some lunch. Upon stepping into the store we were “acknowledged” by “have you checked in or signed in and someone will be with you shortly” no hello or greetings. We stood waiting at the counter for probably 3 minutes until someone was ready to serve us. We sat and waited for our coffees (22 minutes) to get an overheated bitter and curdled almond latte that was not drinkable due to the almond milk separating from the water. We then waited about 10 more minutes for our food which while waiting I was observing the older woman with shortish grey hair serve other customers giving them blunt and rude service and explaining to them how “people just keep coming in and we can’t get anything done so you’ll have to wait” to the customers wanting a table. I could not believe the foul attitude of this staff member. After a global pandemic and the closure of so many small businesses like this I would have thought people wanted business ? Obviously not. The shop had precisely 16 customers including ourselves and 3 front of house staff on. It was hardly busy and very poor service and work ethic from the staff that were on. We also sat with the previous customers dirty plates, cups and napkins on our tables as they were not taken both times a staff member came to our table with our coffee and food. The food was great and kudos to the chefs. I will not be back and will not at all be recommending this place to anyone. And as for the older woman serving I suggest it’s time she is moved on from working in customer service or she closes up shop if this...

Thankfully my mouth will heal Passed through this morning while traveling. We were the first in the door and the older staff member didn’t seem too happy for us to be there. We ordered and we both mentioned later that the food was amazing, however, when I received my coffee I didn’t test to see how hot it was and just took a sip. It burnt the roof of my mouth and my tongue and my only option was to spit it out and then had to clean up the mess. In mentioning this on leaving to the staff member there was no apology and fobbed us off. The food was great but because of the experience of that staff member we won’t be back despite that we will travel through often...

Met some friends here on our way home from the country. Great modern country cafe. Good coffee, and great selection of dishes and drinks. Recommend a Milkshake, with a huge selection of flavours. I give it four stars, because, although we were getting 6 milkshakes, it would have been nice if they all arrived at the same time. (obviously pretty hard seeing as we all had different flavours, but it would have helped keep all the kids still at once. Instead we had some already getting their sugar hit, whilst the others were still sitting there. Something that could have had us out and down to the park a lot sooner to burn off...

Pies are not what they used to be. A bit dry, beef overcooked and pastry doesn't have that beautiful light texture and sweet flavour. Still worth stopping for but I miss the delicious tomato relish, now you just get tomato sauce in a little bowl. My latte was nice. The milk was not well textured and it resulted in a lot of foam but taste-wise it was pleasant. Barista used a thermometer in the milk so I think they're actively working on the coffee experience. There's still hope!

Love the pastries on the pies, very crispy and thick! The pies themselves were really filling, a lot of meat. However it wasn't very saucy, it could be on the drier side. The flavours weren't very exciting either, such as the Moroccan lamb I would've expected more flavours. The lamb rosemary was ok too. The chicken and leek was boring. The sausage roll was good. The coffee wasn't great. Overall I am very happy with what we had, much better than some country bakeries.

Jessica cooks everything on the premises and is so tasty. Try her homemade pies, beautiful flaky pastry and big chunks of meat. I love them. Her soups are very tasty and filling, just the thing for a cold day. Plus her coffee is made to perfection. Try her wide selection of teas, my partner ops for a cup of tea as she gets it in a pot and it’s lovely. Well worth a stop on your way through.
