White Hills Fish Shop — Restaurant in Victoria

55-minutes from ordering to getting my food. Staff said that it would be a 20-minute wait. Chips were under-seasoned and most were soggy, and the tartar sauce was in all honesty vile (seriously guys, I recommend you change it).

The fish was cooked really well, and the potato cakes were pretty good.

Overall, I'd only recommend going if you're willing to wait 30-60 minutes for your food, as this seems to be standard wait times from my previous experiences. Even then, other fish and chip places will cook their fish just as well as these guys, so to me this place really isn't offering much and there is little desire to return.

I would encourage the business to work on their time management; the owner works her guts out, and I commend her for doing so, but it looks like you need another pair of hands as the other two co-workers didn't appear to contribute much. I would also encourage transparency; if it's going to take 50-minutes to complete an order, then explain that, don't force your customers to wait around. Let us make an informed decision. People will understand if you're under the pump, and are more likely to return. And for everyone's sake, change that...

I'm being generous giving 1 star, can't give none, apparently. Visiting the lovely town of Bendigo, had a lovely walk through the park. Went down to White Hills fish shop. It was very busy, so thought the locals must think it's ok. It took over an hour to get the meal. Ordered grilled butterfish, received deep fried Jelly fish. It was literally unrecognisable. It's was just mush under the batter. I had my dogs with me but I wouldn't feed it to them, so threw it in the nearby rubbish bin. I do like my dogs. I fed them the steamed dim sims that I bought for them, which were still cold in the middle but they ate them. The potato cakes were still raw in the middle and dripping with oil, so threw them out as well. My wifes' souvlaki tasted ok but there was mince meat, instead the lamb, which we ordered. On the bright side, the fried dim sims were OK. If you're looking for a fish and chip shop, in or near Bendigo, I'm sure you can do better....

Super disappointed tonight, I’ve had great food from there so many times but wow not sure how to feel after watching someone not follow hygiene practices and terrible communication. Fried food was cooked almost 20 minutes before our souvlakis and burger was ready then accidentally put onion on them which isn’t a big thing but had already waited half an hour so didn’t get them re made. Fried food was cold and soggy by the time we got to eat them which is caused by poor communication then to be lied to about how long they had been sitting for when I was sitting in store watching, the lady on the phone was apologetic once I explained I was watching but just not a good experience tonight at all unfortunately now I have to feed 3 hungry kids McDonalds after spending 30$ on the food I actually got.
