In transit through Gosford last night my wife and I needed a quick refuel. We consulted Google and found this place. Google is very useful for this, that is why I write so many reviews.
It was a cold and rainy night. Tip, avoid the tables near the door - very cold and uncomfortable. We moved tables and all was OK.
We did not want to eat a lot so we chose what should be a reliable favourite, chicken pad thai and our test of thai restaurants, money bags.
The staff were pleasant and the service quick. This is not a modest sized restaurant so I do not know what it would be like when full.
It is interesting to the note the reviews are patchy. I can see why.
Unfortunately the money bags were very bland. I appreciate recipes and styles can vary, nonetheless there were rather ordinary. They seemed to be filled with what I can only describe as vegetable paste. I am sorry I cannot find a better word. There were not great.
The pad thai was much better. A generous sized serving which we could share. Good amount of well cooked chicken. I could not identify the sauce, however it was overall a pleasant dish.
The restaurant is conveniently located in the West Gosford village so when travelling there is large well stocked Coles very close by.
I will try Three Times Thai again when coming...
Read moreToday’s dining experience was quite unpleasant. Upon entering, I requested to sit at a window-side table for four, which could easily be converted into a two-person table.
However, an older white man denied my request, citing concerns about potential crowds. Understanding his reasoning, I complied with the arrangement. However,I noticed a man dining alone at the very table I initially wanted, making me feel unfairly treated.
This was my second visit to the restaurant. During my first visit, I found the food rather bland and requested extra chili, which improved the flavor. This time, I asked for chili in advance, but shortly after, the same man presented me with a receipt, informing me of an additional charge of $1. I was quite taken aback, especially since there was no prior notice about the fee.
Moreover, the extra charge had not been applied during my first visit. This unexpected fee felt petty, especially since I wouldn't have needed the chili if the food had been flavorful enough.
Such petty manner, coupled with mediocre food—the pad Thai was a bit dry and greasy—has left me with no...
Read moreI'm not impressed and cannot understand the rave from the reviews about how this is the best Thai food in Central Coast. Maybe that's because I'm an Asian and am very used to authentic Thai taste in Asia. I always use famous Thai dishes such as Pad See Ew and Green Curry for an initial benchmark if a Thai restaurant is truly authentic or not. Pad see ew did not have the smoky taste indicating lack of wok skills. It was also too sweet even though it should be slightly sweet but this was not supposed to feel like "dessert sweet". Green Curry was okay, not great, 3/5. I can definitely tell you that there's better Thai restaurant in Central Coast, just google it because it won't be nice to drop another restaurant's name in the review. If you are after the ambience and location, this is probably okay. For the taste, not so authentic tbh... but I believe it suits the tastebuds of most...
