I have just driven to the Margaret River Chocolate Factory in Swan Valley as the one in Perth is shut for the day. I specifically came here to buy gifts to bring interstate. I was looking to buy a hamper pack and because the products don't have a price tag, I was trying to decipher the signs. One of the sales assistant said she'd be happy to scan the hamper I was looking at to double check the prices, as she says the signs aren't clear and need to be updated. They are a very busy tourist shop so I think they need to prioritise better signage, and I noticed products were put in the wrong area i.e single quokka plushie with a chocolate was put in the area with a numbats sign, and there was a different in price.
It wasn't too big of a deal, but some of the customer sales people were poor. There are signs behind the counter notifying customers to ask for a sample for some of the chocolates. I asked a small blonde hair young girl at the counter if I could try two of the flavours so I know what chocolate to buy in the hamper. I tasted both and decided to go with one of the chocolates. I put the one I didn't like back on the shelves and lined up again. I was then served by a younger curly haired male who was pleasant enough, and he rung my order. I then asked if I could have another taster of one the chocolates for my partner. He obliged and got me one, but the other blonde sales person tried to stop him. She said, 'dont give her another one. she already had one'. He then replied 'so, what.. do we have limits or something?'. This was all infront of me. I interjected as I felt I had to explain myself, and I said I wanted to give it to my partner to taste as we just bought these hampers for my friends. Mind you I had already bought nearly $90 worth of stuff. The young male said 'don't worry about it, it's all ok' while the girl was left looking surly.
IF there were limits to how many chocolates you can taste, there should be a clear sign. Im left wondering whether the girl was just in a mood, because other sales assistance seemed to give samples with no conditions? If you're going to limit people, there needs to be a sign so that people aren't embarrassed infront of others for asking for a sample. FYI I was given THREE pieces that are 1/4 the size of an index finger. It wasn't like I was standing there just eating buckets of chocolate. I also felt this type of conversation probably shouldn't happen infront of customers?
Its left a bad taste in my mouth and I will probably stay away from this place going forward. There are other chocolate places in Perth, or maybe visit the city store or Margaret River store instead. Never had issues with the...

One of the things I loved about this place is the beautiful veranda where you can enjoy your treats. The setting is charming and provides a relaxing atmosphere to savor your chocolate indulgence. Whether you choose to dine-in or take your goodies to go, the options are plentiful.
Another aspect worth mentioning is the fast service. Despite the busy nature of the Margaret River Chocolate Factory, the staff ensured that I was promptly attended to. It's refreshing to experience such efficiency without sacrificing the quality of the products.
I was also impressed by the accessibility features provided by the establishment. They have a wheelchair-accessible car park, entrance, and toilet, which shows their commitment to inclusivity and accommodating all visitors.
Additionally, the facilities were clean and well-maintained. The availability of clean toilets is always appreciated, especially when spending time enjoying desserts and snacks.

Read moreDisgusting treatment by the older women named Emma. My family and I visited Sunday 1st Jan 24. I have nerve damage to one of my legs (which is very painful) and use crutches to get around, because of this I was unable to try any of the chocolate that was offered for tasting when we walked in. After finding a seat at the Cafe and placing an order, I asked my daughter to use a cup to get samples of the chocolate for me, she came back saying she wasn't allowed to use a cup. I thought fair enough, so went up with her, thinking the staff would be understanding. After take ONE single spoon from each of the chocolate on offer, we were rudely approached by Emma and told it wasn't allowed and that she had already told my 8 year old. I tried to explain that i was for me because I couldn't physically hold chocolate in my hand while trying to use crutches, to which she suggested my 8 yr old holds it for me. How incredibly degrading, If we were trying to fill the cups up or be greedy I would completely understand, but this women seemed the type that gets off on power trips. I said the suggestion to eat from my child's hands wasn't appropriate, to which Emma's response was to roll her eyes, mutter "whatever" and stomp off. Getting back to our table and waiting for our order. The coffee was below average, as well as the food my husband ordered and the cake we ordered never arrived (when placing our order it was by no means busy). I asked for a refund of the cake and fortunately the blonde man at the till was understanding and apologetic, this made up for the bad food and coffee, an apology from Emma would be asking for too much. As swan valley locals I wouldn't recommend this place and would suggest whistlers chocolate company on great northern highway or any of the other many great places along west Swan road. We were planning to bring family from Scotland and down south next week,...
