Café Des Délices — Restaurant in Western Australia

To whom it may concern

Today I ordered two desserts and a coffee from Cafe Des Delices using the appropriate codesas promoted and at what I believed was the advertised price. Unfortunately I was charged an additional $1.60 to the advertised price.

Upon enquiring as to this additional charge I was told in an offhand way by one of the employees that the additional cost was because one of the desserts was "relatively large" with no explanation as to why that was not advised when I made my order and why the advertised price did not recognise that the abnormal size may incur an additional cost.

I also feel that I should mention that whilst in your premises I witnessed staff touching my food without appropriate hand coverings (gloves) on. Given our recent experiences with COVID I would have thought this would be an unacceptable practice in a food service business.

Whilst the additional cost was an annoyance, it was the way in which I was informed of this that I found most offensive. The employee spoke to me in a condescending manner as if I was stupid or could not understand english. I was so upset I thought it appropriate to bring this matter to your attention in the hope that other patrons do not experience anything similar in future.

Really lovely cafe in Dalkeith of all places!

My partner and I were not super hungry, so shared an omelette and French toast, we let the server know we were sharing and to our surprise the the omelette came on two plates, already shared, this was very thoughtful, the omelette came with toast and salad, we really enjoyed this. We followed on with the French toast, agreed that it could have been crispier, but still very edible. My partner had EB tea I had a very nice long black coffee. Went for Monday lunch as it's in the entertainment book. I had the all day breakfast and found it average. Toast was chewy, bacon overcooked and ordinary beef sausages. Mushrooms and poached eggs were good. My wife had the avocado on turkish bread toast with smoked salmon. Generous with salmon but ordinary quality. Friendly staff.
