The Worst Curry Experience Ever

First of all, I ordered through Uber Eats and the whole ordeal took over an hour. The Uber driver was left waiting at the restaurant for more than 15 minutes. I called the restaurant to ask what was going on, and they told me the chef made a mistake with the order and was preparing a new one. I said that’s fine, and they assured me it would be sent soon.

Exactly one hour after I placed the order, it was finally handed over to the Uber driver.

Now the food…

Tandoori Chicken – This wasn’t tandoori chicken in any sense. The chicken was clearly cooked in an oven, not in a tandoor. The marinade used was something completely off — it tasted weird and was definitely not the typical tandoori spice blend.

Chicken Kadhai – This was the worst dish I’ve ever had from any restaurant. It tasted like the chef opened a can of tomatoes, dumped in some green chilies, and threw in unseasoned, tasteless pieces of chicken. No marination, no depth of flavour, no authenticity. Just a mess of acidic tomato and bland meat.

First of all want to say this is our usual go to for a Friday and Saturday night. Decided for a girls dinner on a Thursday night so different staff to what I would normally see. We placed our order and I did say I am really not sure what we are going to get! Mixed pickle turned up as mint chutney (chose not to say anything) Onion bhajis were great as well as the Barra Barra kebabs. Curry dishes were below expectations of what we have all experienced before! Prawn vindaloo came out as prawn Malabar (I said something) it was taken away and then brought out what they said was vindaloo. Is was simply the sauce from the previous dish and let’s add in some extra heat and spice and send it back. Now I eat a vindaloo because it’s doesn’t taste sweet. Our first visit to Citrus did not disappoint us in the slightest! Having looked at other reviews, we decided to bite the bullet and find out what everyone was talking about! I rang and booked a table on a Thursday night, we probably didn't need to do that as we were the first there. Over the hour and a bit we were there, another six groups arrived. The waitresses were so attentive and humorous and made you feel so welcome. When our food came out.. my goodness!!! It was unbelievable! The spices, the textures, the flavours, it was one hell of a combination! Quality and quantity did not disappoint!!!
