Shifa is Arabic meaning healing, remedy or cure. Owners Murray and Zila are certainly providing a great remedy for the lack of a local cafe following the closure of the much loved Ruby's cafe.
The coffee was great. My wife had an enormous slice of their signature honey cake which she loved. I had a piece of the home made baklava which was perfect.
They are awaiting the connection of gas and installation of appliances before they can provide a more extensive menu. We did get to test a vegetarian quiche which we both rated highly. That augers well for the future.
It's great that they are open on weekends up to 1pm on Sundays. We are looking forward to being regulars.
I am moderately lactose intolerant, but haven't been able to take to any of the non-milk substitutes like Soy, Cashew, Almond etc. I'm happy to pay extra for lactose free milk. Would be great if they could stock that.

Read moreOrdered the large Chevaps + spinach & feta gozleme. This was my first time having a chevaps and I would definitely have it again! I loved the Bosnian/Turkish pita bread. It was so soft and fluffy. The marinated beef was also flavourful. Gozleme was thin with nice crispy edges. An awesome local cafe find.
The owners were really friendly, had a nice chat with the lovely gentleman who manned the counter.
They also sell honey in a jar and lots of other honey related goods! They sold out of their honeycake when we were there for lunch but we got to taste test some of their honey. We ended up getting the honey with dried mulberries. I've not come across something like this before either so really excited to take this one home.
They have indoor (airconditioned) and outdoor seating. We were able to use the one high chair on the premise for our toddler. There were also plenty of car parking...
