As a fish and chips lover I was very disappointed in this place. We paid over $68 for 2 x fish and chips, squid rings, 1 x fish cake, 3 x pineapple fritters, 1 x crab stick and 3 small Woolworth kids’ juices. The good. The chips were good and so too were the tasty, dusted squid rings. The bad. For $12.95 you get one (1) small piece of fish with not much fish inside and quite dry. It reminded me of when I’d over-cooked the fish you find in supermarkets in cardboard boxes but was less meaty. After receiving the order I questioned the price (my partner made the order). When i asked about the huge sign with the deal (see photo) at the front of the restaurant we were told that is a different fish (we had asked for “fish and chips” so I don’t know how the signage could refer to a different “fish and chips”). I think the place was pulling a fast one. If they weren’t then it is a truly expensive place for what you get. The three little drinks came to $10.50 ($3.50 each). The fish was very overpriced for what you received, most places are $9 around the area (check out Brighton Fish and Chips). We would happily have spent $68+ on The Canteen (great fish and chips and opposite the sea). The moral of this story is: if you like squid and chips then this is a good place to visit. If you prefer fish and chips then definitely avoid this place because your money can be better spent elsewhere, a place that won’t leave you disappointed.

Buyer beware: don’t fork out for fork n fish Unfortunately, this was a thoroughly mediocre fish and chips experience for a very premium price. The fish had a peculiar texture and each piece had an identical shape, suggesting that it might be a molded product. The chips were okay, but a stingy amount by fish and chips standards. Worst of all though was the price. Between a group of three we paid over $100 - 18.90 for a single serve, and something around $65 for a 'pack for two'. Plus premium sauces at $3.90 each. Fish and chips is one of the most simple and cheap meals a person can make - as traditional neighborhood fish and chip shops have demonstrated for years -so to be charging this much is bordering on daylight robbery. It will be insisted by the management that it is a "very premium product" to justify the extreme pricing, but truth be told despite this and and almost beachside location, it's simple tastes like nothing special. I hope they reconsider their business model and manage to attract some more custom.

As a visitor from Melbourne we are always looking for good fish and chips. As we had been down to Scarborough beach earlier we decide to see what options were around for fish and chips. Google led us to Fork n fish. This little fish and chip shop did not disappoint. I can honestly say that the burger was the best I had had in awhile. The squid rings were delicious and cooked to perfection along with the chips. If you want really good chips and burgers along with squid then I would highly recommend trying out this place. Can not comment on fish as we did not have any but on what we had I would say it would be great. A bit pricey but the quality is there and that’s what count.

I used to dream of the days we would treat ourselves to fork and fish. Our normal order consisted of a serving of fish and chips to share with extra chips. Normally, we would struggle to finish this but this time we were highly disappointed. Even a small sized mouse would have been disappointed with the serving we received, let alone a human. We decided to splurge and get gravy which cost $4 extra and the container was one third full and the Gravy was almost a hard consistency. We weren’t greeted nicely with a team dressed in Hawain shirts like normal either. Under the impression there was an owner change so do yourself a favour and don’t waste your time. Buy some frozen fish and chips and cook it yourself and it will be 100% better. Will never go back and will make sure to tell all of our friends and family about our experience. I don’t wish that experience on my worst...
