The new owners of this spot have done a magnificent job. It is warm and cosy (even on a miserable cold day like today). The food was delicious - I had the kids pancakes (which honestly were perfect for not super hungry adults) and my partner had the bacon and eggs which was delish. It was clear love had gone into it all - the home made hash brown in particular was amazing (and I wish I knew how they made it!), the poached eggs were perfectly done and my pancakes were perfect.
Hope this place moves to dine in style with proper plates as the only downside was cutting things in cardboard (even with the proper cutlery they provide) is a bit funny and I didn’t love the waste element as we dined in.

I ordered the avo toast which had a generous serving of fresh avo but also had a decent amount of what tasted like ‘mock’ guacamole (cream cheese with a small amount of avo). This wasn’t mentioned on the menu and if I had known I would’ve ordered something else, was disappointed considering I had spent $29 on the meal and coffee. Read moreI'm not sure what's happened to the Gill St cafe, new management ? There seems to be a brain fade going on though not serving dine in coffee in real cups but instead paper takeaway cups. Same with the food. It takes away from the experience and no doubt will iron out a large amount of clientele especially the environmentally conscious. But perhaps they've already run the costs on this...I think if this place doesn't make drastic changes it will start losing money if...
