Went here today for a quick catch up lunch with my son. Atmosphere is always great here. You never come here and find it empty. We were there at 12 noon and restaurant starting to fill. I made a booking to sit out on the Veranda which was lovely and weather was glorious. The girl that greeted us when we arrived was lovely however when I said we had a booking she looked a bit nervous, found our booking and turned and muttered something to us then started walking away from where we standing. My son and I looked at each other and we said, I think we are supposed to follow her so off we went and was shown our seats. Due to Covid and with pubs and restaurants getting away from table ordering and no longer splitting bills, with the QR code having to be used to order or you get up yourself and go to the counter, I have felt for a long time that service is starting to lapse at a lot of places as the "service" is no longer required. The staff are these days delivering your food to the table, and that is it. Sadly the Greenwood is going down that path and I would like to see management bring back some service, I do understand that with Covid and cost of living and sky high rents and labour costs, they are putting on less people and taking advantage of the QR codes but even to have a staff memeber walk around and check everyone and ask how is their meal, do they need anything else and saying, you can order another drink with the QR code or please come up to the counter. A simple recognition would be lovley and go a long way. That being said, my son had the steak sandwich, good portion, with heaps of chips but he keeps finding the steak difficult to chew in the sandwich so only manages to get through half of the meal. I had to lobster mornay and it was absolutely delicious. The bruschetta to start with was lacking balsamic glaze which was a bit surprising to me not having it but was super fresh. We have been going to this pub for a very long time and will continue to go here and have our lunches and celebrations as we have just loved it over the years. See...
Read moreWe visited with the family and had a mixed experience. The staff were friendly and greeted us with a smile, and the food itself tasted fantastic — really well cooked and full of flavour.
However, a few things let the experience down. The kids’ meals honestly looked a bit like hospital food 🤣 and the portion sizes overall felt more fine dining than tavern. My “400g” steak was closer to 300g, and my wife’s barramundi was tiny — maybe around 100g. We also weren’t offered dessert or asked if we wanted another drink, and no one checked in during or after the meal to see how everything was.
Great potential and lovely staff, but the service and portion sizes need a bit of attention to match the quality...
