I really hate having to write a negative review but I just can't not. Lavender Bistro & Boutique absolutely stuffed me around today and treated me like rubbish. They "lost" my reservation, despite me coming in person to speak to Patrick, having written confirmation via text book message last week and also leaving a message on their answering machine the Saturday before they went on break.

Credit to where credit is due, Patrick at Lavender Bar and Bistro is a lovely person and the only one who didn't treat me like a waste of time. He took full responsibility for the stuff up and apologised but it cannot make up for the fact that they did a terrible job and that every other staff member was disgusting.

We were placed in a cramped space inside the cafe despite the fact that there was space outside. Our booking had requested table 24 as it was an outside table and a kids party. We hired a professional Elsa impersonator and purposely needed that outside space. I had to fight for our tables to be close to each other as they had separated the kids from the adults and they were a fair distance. They didn't want to displace anyone else despite the fact they stuffed up.

The staff treated us like we were a nuisance, huffing and puffing and upset that we were blocking the way despite the fact that we were told it was fine and that we could do whatever we needed to. I asked for so many drinks at so many times and was ignored. I don't think I should have to chase down people when they are the ones who should be bending over backwards at the mistake they made. They were rude and untoward and I was so upset and bawled once I got home. I had to put on a brave face for my daughter but cannot fathom being treated like rubbish when they made the mistake.

At the end of the day, we were comped 5 bowls of chips and paid $488 instead of $588. It cannot take back the fact that I spent hundreds on a backdrop that I left in the car because I couldn't bring it inside, couldn't do the pinata and could hardly hear our performer due to the noise inside. I couldn't be bothered arguing as I just wanted to go home. I have never ever been treated like I have today.

On the positive, people said the food was lovely so that's a silver lining. I wouldn't know, I couldn't eat a bite because I was so upset. I just wouldn't step back in that place after the horrific treatment received and their huge stuff up. If you want to have an event at their establishment, I would highly recommend not. Or insisting that they check the system and confirm the dates (in the end they magically found my booking for...

So i'll begin by saying the only reason why i am posting 2 stars is because the food was nice & well presented. The high tea was lovely, but for $60 ( minimum 2 people at $30 p/h ) You really do not get much, a few sandwiches- where the filling was quite sparse, the cakes were enjoyable, same as scones- The warm savoury pastries were also enjoyable... But, Here comes the service. The service was absolutely disgusting and appalling. There was 1 women ( blonde ) she was lovely, So props to her. I actually feel for her working with the men there as i have never come across such disgusting customer service. I had booked a table for 9 for my mums birthday, Yesterday ( Sunday 15th sept ) - Upon making the booking, it asks why you are coming. As my mum wanted to do high tea- i selected high tea. Fairly Straight forward in my opinion. We arrived and were seated. As 3 of the 9 were kids ( Ill add, when making booking online it DOES NOT ask if any of the numbers are children ) We sorted the kids out and the lovely blonde came and took our order. Between us, we were a little confused with he high tea but we sorted it ordering 3 high teas between 6 adults. A Frenchman came out with his ipad saying i ordered 9 on the booking, i was super confused and said no 9 people. He mumbled something about having to pay the difference, but i was quite confused and he left our table. i discussed it with my mother in law and my mum and decided to go see them at the counter for further information/ clarification. It was my mums birthday so wanted it sorted without having to have her stressed. When i began to speak, within 1 minute i was confronted by 6 men ( ill add im a woman, my kids came to the counter with me ) and they literally started to agrue with me about how they prepared 9 high teas, i had to pay etc. I said, No i booked for 9 people. not high teas. after going back and forth for quite a while with them, The men TRYING to intimidate me i walked away as i couldnt handle the appalling way these men were speaking to me. What gets me the most is, they said they pre prepared ... We didnt come for Pre prepared high tea, we wanted fresh..

I am absolutely appalled with this Place, after this i read reviews and noticed it was quite a common act on behalf of the lavender bistro to agrue and intimidate their customers.

Dont waste your time with this place. its a shame, because the food was nice- but ill purely never go back due to the disgusting...

Picture of High tea for 3 people to share ($90). What a horrible place. I've been wanting to try this place for years and decided to book for a group of friends for my birthday. Booked the high tea for 9 of us. Was so excited. When our high tea arrived the server said to eat the sandwiches first as they would get dry. We did but they were already dry. We ate a few other things while waiting for them to come ask how the food was so we could mention the sandwiches. Then one of the ladies found a hair in her scone. It was threaded through so couldn't have been blown onto the food. She then took her plates back to let them know. I collected our sandwiches to take inside to chat to them. The manager was rude and arrogant. He insisted we left the sandwiches too long. It was our fault. No apology or anything just insisting he had served that all day and only we complained. He spend 10 minutes arguing with me even though it was my birthday. All he could have done was apologised and offer some new sandwiches but no he insisted on being rude and passing the blame. I really just wanted to walk out without eating anything but they had my card details for the deposit. When I mentioned the hair he was taken aback and then said fine we'll bring new sandwiches. When the server brought out the new plate he didn't return after to top up our water or bring the tea and coffee that went with the high tea. He also didn't bring back the replacement for the food with the hair. We had to go ask for it. I do not recommend this place it was a horrible experience. No apology or empathy. For the price it's $90 for 3 tiers for 3 people with barely anything good. Nothing lavender themed or out of the ordinary. But I'd have been okay with mediocre if the service was great but it was so bad. I can't believe the owner of the place was so rude and his staff just as bad. They were offended like it was a personal attack when we asked for better quality. The server even said he felt them on the way out and they were fine. Did he touch out food? The chef came out to make me feel some soft ones and I said yes that's what we wanted. It's as if they were trying to prove themselves right. I also wonder about the hygiene of the place. I was so keen to buy some lavender themed items but didn't want to give them...

Booked a table for 10 for my friends surprise baby shower. Booking was easy and communication with the restaurant afterwards was simple. Both Patrick and Pascal were extremely friendly and polite. When we arrived the table was set up and again, the staff were very accommodating. It was very busy so the noise levels were high, especially as one of the tables had several small unruly children running around (of course nothing to do with the restaurant itself). Perhaps becuase it was so busy it took a while before we got served and we waited for drinks and then high tea to be brought out, but it wasn't an unreasonable wait considering the busyness of the place. The food was lovely, reasonably priced and the portion sizes adequate - definitely not huge but perfect for a light high tea. The lavender sweet tier was very much lavender based - not to everyone's taste but I and others really enjoyed it. We noticed it got very warm toward the end of our sitting and when we went to pay we were told the electricity had gone out (hence the heat) and that the eftpos wasn't working so we needed to pay cash. We didn't all have cash to pay so one friend asked if she could do bank transfer. This was initially refused so we were left wondering how everyone else was going to be able to pay. I think there was a little panic at the electricity going out and the staff weren't really prepared for such an eventuality which is understandable. We were patient and eventually told we could do bank transfer. Despite this minor hiccup it was a lovely afternoon and I would definitely recommend this place although my only criticism would be the noise levels. Next time I will try some of the other delicious looking things on the menu.
