At first I thought it was quite lovely coming here.
Then as the staff were packing up the chairs , I was asked to pick up and stack my own chair when I was finished with it
I kindly said “no, but I’m happy to leave now anyway”
I got a very rude response “well you can leave then”.
I have worked many years in hospitality and customer service, and you just do not ask your customer to pack up your furniture (unless you had a sign up that I couldn’t see warning customers that you ask this of them”.
Instead of considering the fact I may have have an injury or something that could prevent me lifting the chair (I don’t but you can’t assume), you expected me to just comply when no I do not want to pack away my chair at your cafe.
If a customer doesn’t want to pack away their chair, they say they are happy to leave, and are not emotional with their response, I don’t feel that there needs to be an entitled reaction...
