A Birthday treat brought us here for the first time today. Arriving Saturday just before noon and lucky enough to snag a car space near the front door. Into the Saloon Bar and it's very pleasant. Open and airy. Pick a table, no Menu there, so up to the bar we go. The smallest range of barefoot I've ever seen. No Steak. No Burgers. No Pizzas. No Roasts. I had to ask a Barmaid if this was the Specials menu. Nope. They just don't offer a wide range of Food. At least on Saturday. Fish & Chips all-round then. With a choice of Grilled or Fried. A round of drinks while we wait, allows a look around. Plenty of flat-screens around, thankfully showing different Sports. Big surprise, along one wall are an array of Board Games to keep the Kids occupied. I'm no fan of Children in Bars. I think it's wrong. But giving them something to keep them occupied, other than a playground. Is an Excellent idea. The Food arrives and everyone appraises it. One person has selected grilled, the other two, fried. Two reasonable sized fillets, a smallish portion of Crispy Fries and a scoop of Coleslaw in lieu of a Salad. Tomato sauce and Tartre sauce are provided, in cardboard cups as an economy measure. Not a huge fan of this trend, but I guess it saves on washing up time. The food goes down well, the batter is light and crispy. No description of the Fish in the Menu, but I'd have said it was Snapper. In any event, it was pretty decent. So, first visit impressions? It's a Fine establishment. Worth a visit.

Shouldn't be forgiven for your cinders. A comedy of errors accompanies this food tragedy. However, the evening was not lost. This hotel has some large areas and great seating. A kids' play area in the restaurant gives a family-friendly vibe. On Friday nights you can play in music games while you eat. Overall, some good atmosphere. You can order and pay for your food by a QR Code at the table. Exercise caution if you choose to pay at the bar. Somehow, staff managed to add an extra meal and charged for included sauces. The money was returned, all good. The food came out. Unfortunately, the steaks were extra crispy... cindered. The bitterness was worse than coffee granules, an unfortunate palette cleanser. Definitely not the expected medium to rare. I dont know how they made through the pass in the kitchen; there were only a few diners. Too the credit of staff, they replaced the steaks and offered a free drink. The comedy of errors didn't stop there... when bringing out the replacement steaks... they managed to mix up the sauces. Apart from all the sheninigans, the food was good. It was an entertaining evening.

In reference to the AFL Grand Final event held this year, we had the intention of attending a venue that offered an open-air setting with a large screen. Given our familiarity with the Morris, we made the decision to patronize their establishment for the significant sporting event. The attendance was substantial, and the audio system provided adequate sound levels. The bar staff demonstrated commendable dedication throughout the day, ensuring a consistent supply of beverages. One individual, Blake, particularly stood out for his exceptional service in the Patio Area. He maintained composure throughout the event, assisted his colleagues, and interacted with patrons in a friendly manner. In light of his outstanding performance, we kindly request that management consider providing him with additional compensation this week as a token of appreciation for his efforts. We express our gratitude for the enjoyable experience and look forward to future opportunities to patronize your establishment. Sincerely, Mat & Julia

Our visit to The Morris was a bit of a rollercoaster. Upon arrival, we stood at the entrance for about five minutes before being greeted and seated, which set the tone for the evening. We had requested a high chair when booking, but unfortunately, it wasn't at the table when we were finally seated.

The meal for our toddler arrived within 15 minutes, which was a relief—until we discovered that the chicken nuggets were cold in the middle, indicating they hadn’t been cooked thoroughly. We had to request that they be reheated. On a positive note, the kids' meal was well thought out, with a variety of options that our little one enjoyed once the food was properly prepared. However, by the time he finished his meal, our adult food still hadn’t arrived, leaving us trying to keep a toddler entertained for an additional 30 minutes.

When the adult meals finally arrived, the portion sizes were generous, especially for the roast. Unfortunately, the roast beef was dry, which was disappointing given the 45-minute wait. After such a long delay, we decided it wasn’t worth sending it back and waiting even longer for a replacement.

Considering it was opening weekend, we hope these are just teething issues that will be resolved with time. The potential is there, but the execution fell short on...
