UPDATE 11/2024: Services and staff are still very friendly. Although they still do the Tuesday $20 ribs & wings special, portion definitely have reduced (thanks to inflation). They no longer do sweet potato chips which is my biggest let down as it’s my go to chips. The fish taco (soft shell) was just average, nothing fancy, not a dish we’d reorder again though. Booking is highly recommended as they do get quite busy especially on days with promos. Have been here in the past and great experience at first but food quality started to turn downhill so we stopped going. However, on our recent visit on a Tuesday night, we really enjoyed our meal and service. Ribs were cooked to perfection, so soft that it just falls off the bone. Chicken wing comes with 2 choices, smokey BBQ or hot buffalo sauce. If you don’t like the spicy & sour flavours, go for the BBQ. Friendly staff who came to check at the table if everything was going well. The only downside for the night was staff at the ordering/paying counter, some glitches there which after a while of back and forth, she eventually checked with her colleague and said I was correct. Instead of trying to argue with me in front of other queueing customers, she could have just checked with her colleagues first.

Wow, been here approximately 5 or 6 times now for food and it’s so hit and miss. One time I got a curry and it was out of this world good- the next time it was watery and tasteless. However it will definitely be the last time eating here after the food we got. I got the ribs and wings special and most certainly got what I paid for- crap. The wings and ribs has to be the smallest piddly thing I’ve even seen. They had been boiled and then just smashed with a tonne of sauce. The flavour of the meat on both the chicken and ribs made me gag- didn’t eat it at all. The slaw was flavourless. The highlight was the chips and I’m not the biggest fan of chips. As for the chicken schnitzel this time it was overcooked and dry to the max. Although somehow the next day the person who ate it had the runs which apparently stunk like the schnitzel and had gut pains so bad. The beer selection is decent. They have a one or two craft beers on tap so I had the tall timbers which is always a good beer. I get a lot of people love this place but maybe I have higher standards when it comes to food. I would only come here for a drink in future- not eating here again.

I was really impressed with the extra care and attention they went to with their Christmas in July function. Decorations, themed drinks, Christmas crackers on the table and staff dressed in Christmas gear made it all the more special. This is a (very) kid friendly event and Santa even posed for pics with seats beside so you don't need to sit on a lap and had gifts for all the kids, although if you don't want your kids having a big bar of chocolate maybe avoid it. There was crafting, colouring in stations, kids shows and a chill bean bag spot setup and balloon twisting. The whole event seems to be very well organised and our 2 hour booking finished quick although we did have plenty of time to eat, chat and join in with kid activities. The Christmas buffet was ample. Not a huge selection, only pumpkin soup but was tasty. The desserts weren't anything amazing and could've used ice cream or cream with the apple crumble and custard but otherwise it was fine. The chefs were the highlight, being very generous with their carvery; Turkey, beef or ham options. My kids and I are not huge eaters but we were all stuffed and satisfied by the end of it.

I've stopped going there. Food is overpriced. Hours posted on web are false, close hours before google times. Visited too many times for a drink only to find it closed. Google shows 12.00AM for MON - WED, you're going to be a couple of hours late. If they were quiet on nights with bands, they simply got band to finish early and call last drinks about an hour before closing time. When it is still open, it seems staff are only interested in cleaning the bar and scrubbing the floor hours before supposed closing time. I've never seen anything like it. The get two stars because the crowd is generally friendly and the staff are very good up until cleaning time. Thought I'd try again. in Dec 2018 Bottleshop is closed well before advertised closing time so went inside. It's exactly the same except the toilets which were previously ok are now terrible. Dirty, no dryer, hand towels all used and not replaced, spew all over the floor and the aircon is set to freeze eskimos. It is a pity the potential is so good, they just don't care. If you menrion these things, they just look at you as though you speak a different language. Took friends there on 9/2 believing that they would be reasonable on a Saturday night in summer and it might be a pleasent night to enjoy the beer garden. Wrong, International rugby was blasting at a level that probably had neighbors annoyed. Couldn't get a seat anyway because the crowd had all moved outside due to freezing conditions inside. As usual, closed an hour earlier than advertised time with no warning. I guess I should have known...

So I booked the woodvale tavern reception centre for my wedding last week ! And it was beyond my wildest dreams. From the very beginning all my dealings with functions manager Mandy were amazing. Her knowledge, professionalism and talents in the event planning world were amazing. She helped plan, and nothing was too much effort. She helped co ordinate all other vendors on the day. She became my rock, and I couldn’t be more thankful. On the day, the room was sensational, and exceeded my wildest dreams ! It was stunning. The woodvale provide all table linen, chair covers, cutlery and more. The attention to detail that was put into the room blows me away. The staff were just fantastic! So friendly, helpful and went above and beyond for not just the bridal party but guests too. It was a pleasure to have them as part of my day !! Then the food… we went with the Buffett option… and OMG ! The food was delicious! All guests complimented how amazing and tasty the food was. The roast dinner had to be my favorite !! When a bride is planning a wedding a budget is super stressful ! However the pricing the woodvale offers is amazing. For what is included, the food, decor etc… its amazing. I couldn’t recommend the woodvale enough for a function. I was already a fan of the beautiful English style pub anyway, but to host a function too ! Thank you to Mandy, and all the staff at the Woodvale. Without all your time and efforts my wedding reception wouldn’t have been as sensational...

Great boozer, staff sometimes not the best at recognising who is next at the bar, but you know what I’ve moved on.

Food is good.

It’s had a massive refurb, at the front, the trees were obviously doing something terribly wrong so they had to to go, along with the ambience, shade and birds,so it looks like every other McMansion in Perth; thank god!

But…they either don’t have the bottle or the money to change the inside, which is fine by me.

I always wanted to know about the Scotland team that should have won the World Cup, and it’s right there on the wall (inside).

Actual massive range of draught beers; unreal.

You could do with being a tradie to afford to go regularly, more cement mixers than Kennards outside The Tav (as we locals call it) from about 2:30 every day, but they are doing it tough in todays economy so deserve six pints of Stella before they drive home

More Premier League, UK and Eire football (soccer) shirts than Rebel sports, but as a Man Utd, fan I can be served next to a Leeds Utd fan and not end up in a fight, so that’s lovely.

It’s what makes Australia great, low level banter and no glassings.

They changed the menu recently and to some people it was akin to having their first born stolen, I just went for the mushy peas and had a pint of old Peculiar.

I actually love this pub and would recommend it to anyone who wants to sit in the Perth sunshine and feel like they could be...
